I am active duty, and just discovered my fiancee has early stage cervical cancer. If we marry will her condition be covered by my benefits or will it considered pre-existing and we would be on our own?

As soon as you are married she will be entitled to Tricare. It all depends upon which base you are at if she gets free medical care at the base or has to go off base for civilian care under Tricare. If that is the case, you will have to pay something for her care but it will be a lot cheaper than anything else you can do.

Go to Vegas and get married ASAP. You can do it all in a weekend. Take the marriage license down to the personnel office on Monday and she gets put into the system and can immediately call for a doctor's appointment the same day.

If she has her medical records from the civilian doctor that would help a lot. And who knows? That civilian doctor may be in the Tricare system and he can continue with her care.

It will be covered. Had a not so major but somewhat similar situation in my case and it all worked out just fine. Pass on my regards to your fiancee. Any time the one you love goes through something like that it's extremely difficult and I completely understand. My prayers are with you both. Semper Fidelis

YES IT WILL BE COVERED! It is one of the only insurance companies that will cover pre-existing conditions. Now if you get out Tricare has the right not to cover you then but as long as you are ACTIVE DUTY she will be covered.

If you really love her do it. You will be able to provide her with the care she needs and tri-care does not have any pre-existing condition clauses. They also do not require a physical from her.

Yes. There is no barrier under Tri-Care for pre-existing conditions.
