No. Unless you are getting married and registered or having a house warming and register. The thing about Christmas if you get something you do not want most retailers will exhange them without the reciept for a period of time.

It's not considered to be proper, but my uncle has done that for years. It's only with us, his immediate family and he did it because we kept telling him how hard it is to shop for his picky behind!
