I don't even think of my sins catching up with me. As I sin, I know it and self correct. Why keep on sinning and afraid of God. God has nothing to do with my choices. He gives me the freedom and the brain to think. I don't blame Him , not think He will punish me. My God is bigger and more forgiving than that. He knows my every cell, and knows why I am tempted when I am. We talk all of the time, in my heart.
I don't only respect God, I am in awe of how He loves so much. I see His handiwork and direction in so many of my friends, and know the many wonderful things He has done in my life. What a God!
I do wish He would have given me more money, more time to enjoy life, helped me so I didn't have to work 3 jobs to survive, help me raise my son so he wouldn't have used drugs, but then I would really be saying I want a daddy or a person to control and shape my life. He gave me strength, brains, desire and intelligence to do what I had to do when needed.

I respect God for many reasons. He has made my life worth living. My faith in Him carried me through trials and helps me to know love and respect for my fellow man. The fellowship of the children of God encourages me daily. His word helps me not to feel alone.

I do have awe of God, not scared or afraid of God, but a sense of knowing He expects my best. I also know, since I am "in Him" I am forgiven of each sin I repent from and attempt to restore the harm done from the sin. He is willing to pardon my sins when I truly repent and turn, and that is another great support for the morale.

The Mick "7", I have lost 2 husbands to cancer. I thank God they do no longer have to suffer with the disease on this cruel earth. This is not our home, we are only here for a very short time and we are gone. We will all die or be changed to the eternal body. We are not here but for a very few years. Why give up eternity to be vengeful for a few years here?

Your question sounds as if you believe there is only one god to respect. I have to ask, which god are you referring?

Each god that exists in society has an equal opportunity for my respect, so long as this (or these) god (or gods) exist.

Of course, I would have to answer question by saying I don't believe in god to give any respect but, if you are speaking about the Judeo-Christian god, I would have to say no, I do not respect 'him'. He is a cruel god, full of jealousy and hate. I think the New Testament was simply a PR spin to get people to think he was a righteous and loving god. He certainly has a good PR firm to turn to, that's for sure.

Wow. I guess I should not be surprised by the number of people here mocking or disbelieving in God, but I am. I'm proud to say that even though I am a sinner, I love God with all of my heart because I know he loves me with all of his. He knew that we'd all be sinners. Therefore all of us belong in hell. But did doesn't want that, so he gave us an easy way to be forgiven. He said if we believe and trust in his son, Christ Jesus and admit our sins he'd forgive each of us.
Of all the things God has done for me in my life, I respect that the most.

Yes, I do. I grew up going to church several times a week and although I saw many flaws in religion as a whole, I had a very real relationship with God. Although I know that I'm not living my life in a way that is pleasing to Him now, I know that He's real, that He does care and I have a great respect for Him.

I respect people who believe in God. I respect people even more when they follow their beliefs on a daily basis - being kind to others, giving to charity, etc. I don't believe in the normal idea of God, so I don't suppose you'd say that I respect him, per se. But I respect the power that exists within the Universe.

Yes. I grew up in the church and I love God with all my heart. I will always serve him. Everyone sins and just because you sin doesn't mean your going to hell. You just have to ask God's forgiveness and he will forgive you. The great thing about God is that once he forgives you he erases it completely. He'll never bring it back on you. That's what the Bible says!
