Actually I fell in love with someone from another country. For a few years every couple months one of us would fly across the Atlantic to spend a week or two with each other. When we decided to marry we had to make the decision which one of us would move. The only reason he moved to America rather than my moving to England is with his career field he'd have a much easier time finding a suitable job here than I would have if I had moved there.

We've been together 11 years total, 8 of them married.

okay, beacuse i deffintly know all about this from my own experiances i know how tough it can be. Handling the distance is pretty tough expecially when he is all the way across the states. but how i handle it is, we use long distance phone calls every night, and if you dont have long distance call then buy a phone card that are sold usually anywhere and you can get to call him free.As for finally moving together i would start with visits. save some money and travel back and forth and see how you like it before you just jump in to living near each other. and if you do decide to move in together talk about it, if he doesnt want to leave and you dont mind then you go to him, i mean your family can visit you right? or vise virsa it works eathier way. just trust your heart and let nature take its course on where it wants you to go, the answer really depends on how much you love that person and how commeted you are to being with them. good luck i hope it works out for you!! =)

My friend is actually engaged to someone in South America, and she lives in the Northern U.S. I think that since you are able to, and you don't have the physical aspects getting in the way, you will have a great chance of developing a close emotional relationship which is probably the most important thing in the relationship. I think then that after you develop that, it will help you figure out if this person is really worth it or not. You should visit each other each weekend though or every other weekend if possible. Then, if you decide that they are worth it, one can make the effort of both can make the effort to move to be near each other, so you both can fully understand how each other lives. like, if they keep their house clean or messy, or just their little habits, and then eventually you should definitely move in together.

If you REALLY loved that person, you would take the extra effort to quit your job, or transfer colleges and move near them. But also, if you loved them that much, the best thing to do is probably get married. If moving near them (or in with them) is not an option, I would reccomend both of you getting a webcam. The reason is so you can not only stay in touch by talking, but by seeing eachother as well. Then planning regular out of state visits at least once every month or two.

How much of a commit you are in and what are the circumstances? My husband and I are both from NJ but he was in North Carolina, because he was stationed there with the Marine Corps, so I was left to move down there when he was deployed and we only knew each other a couple months. (stupid I know, young love) So, you have to give and take with the relationship. If he wasn't in the military, I don't think it would have worked out. It's a hard call. But I would say move somewhere equal distance from your homes.

I would probably move. I hate Ohio anyway.

;o)

I don't handle long distance relationships very well. They can work temporarily, but eventually you are going to need to be near each other on a regular basis. I was in one long distance relationship when I was 18 years old and it lasted about 9 months because I just couldn't handle only seeing her once a month.

Ive been down the road and it never worked out. Unless one of you move to be with the other, the relationship will never progress.

I would probably take some time off work and go stay with him to see how things went and if the two of you were serious enough and ready to commit, I would start looking for a job and ask him how he would feel if you moved out there either on your own, or with him. The downfall of it all would be that if you didnt FIRST find a place of your own and you right away moved in with him, where are you going to go if you and him dont work out?

Almost 2 years ago, I met and fell in love with someone from another state. We flew back & forth for 9 months and then we finally decided to move in together. I wanted a new life so I moved up north & found a new job in NYC. Sure, it was a risk, but it was well worth it. we are still together now. And even if we were not, it would still be such a loss to not at least give it a try.

Good luck!

I think things always work out for themselves. You two will figure out what is best for both of you. If you can't be without one another, you'll move close to one another. If it's not worth it then move on and maybe you'll meet someone new that is closer and easier to see every day. Long distance relationships are really hard to have, so try to do one or the other! Hope this helps :)

I, personally, wouldn't handle the distance. If I wasn't doing anything important, I'd sacrifice my current life and a start a new one with him in the other state. Or, if I was busy, I'd see if he was willing to make the commitment to move closer to me.

Although, if you truly love them and he the same, the distance wouldn't make a difference.
