I think it depends on the circumstances. If it's someone standing on the side of the road holding a sign, then you usually do not have food to give them, so if the Holy Spirit convicts your heart to give them some money then I think you should do that. On the other hand, someone may approach you in a restaurant and ask for some money to buy food, and in this case I think it's best to offer to buy them a meal. God bless you!!!

NEITHER...as the old adage goes, give a man a fish and he eats for a day, and usually back tomorrow for another, but if you teach the man to fish, he can eat for a life time.
If you have the money or the time to volenteer deal with a soup kitchen, food shelf, or one of the local 'improvement' centers where you can bring someone into your home to help, donate clothes so they can go on an interview or go to work.

each so often. of course, you won't be able to deal with to pay for to help anybody, yet i attempt to do some thing each each so often. i do no longer stay in a city, so i do no longer come upon them often. i might quite provide them food. If I definitely have food in my motor vehicle, i'm chuffed to grant it, and that i've got been preserving some blankets in my motor vehicle for the subsequent time I definitely have the prospect to grant them away. So the perfect may be a pair of greenbacks and food/blanket if I definitely have it with me. Plus, once you're waiting to grant them some thing different than money, you comprehend that is going for use for the perfect reasons. no longer basically blowing the money on booze and cigarettes.

My mom used to carry around a little bag of food in her car. It'd have a can of tuna and crackers or maybe one of those little cheese and cracker things you can get for kids snacks, along with some chips and a bottle of juice.
She handed it to a woman on the street corner once who was begging for money, and the woman threw it back in her face and cursed her. Said she didn't need her **** food, she just wanted money and if my mom couldn't give it to her, then get the *** out of there.
My mom did, she left in a hurry.
Me? I give them the spare change I have or a dollar.

Give them a meal if you must do something. Keep in mind a lot of the beggars you see on the street are really drug addicts and scam artist. Some even make more money than you do. You will encounter this a lot w/ the native populations of Fairbanks and Anchorage, AK.

Give them whatever you have. If you've got money, give it to them. The argument against giving money is b.s. - a person with an addiction can DIE if they don't get what they need. Just help them out however you can and leave the moralizing for a higher power.

Go into a sandwich shop & give them a sandwich, and a drink (water) Just how are you going to teach someone how to work without spending time with him?( teach a man to fish) Maybe they had a good factory job and it could have
closed down and left the country! Don't judge a man guilty of laziness unless you know his story! Rent the Christian movie "Conversation's with God" You might get a shock!

Food. They may abuse the gift of money by buying drugs or alcohol and getting drunk off it.
Homeless service and low income service information would serve them better as well as job resource development centers. As they say, "teach someone to fish...."
A phone number they can also dial is 2-1-1 which would connect them with United Way, a good resource for the homeless and low income.

The bible states if a man doesn't work, he doesn't eat. Therefore, it is better to offer work in exchange for either you decide to give. The bible is clear that the poor will always exist, and we give to them if and when we can. In today's society in which alcoholism and drug addiction are prevalent I would prefer to give food, or if money is needed for a bill, to pay it direct to the provider.

It depends; if they will spend the money on drugs or alcohol then obviously don't give them money; but if they are going hungry they should want food over that anyway.
