There's a lot more liability for Universal by crossing Lankershim Blvd. It would require extra permits and regulations. Since the shuttle stays on Universal's property, they can run it cheaper, keeping it free.

The shuttle bus is accessible to people with disabilities.

That would be a cool idea but I think it would interfere with the business of The MTA redline for some reason. I always take the red line to Universal and take the tram up the hill whenever I go, but hate crossing the street and walking to the tram bus stop. Great idea for a question though! May be you should write or call universal to find out why they dont pick up patrons at the redline station.

What I been told at Universal is the tram are not designated to travel on city street, thus they can't cross over Lankershim Bl. to pick up or drop off passenger at the red line station. That was a lame excuse.

That Red-line station is subterranean and you still have to take stairs or the elevator up to the street level. At that point you literally just cross the street to the tram stop. I don't believe it is much of a walk. Call them directly if you need additional handicap assistance. I am sure they could arrange it.

This vehicle is way too long to be crossing a busy street.
