Take a look at the Pentax line of DSLRs. K100D, K100D Super and K10D. The 100 series are 6.1mp; the Super adds Dust Removal for sensor cleaning. The 10 is 10mp and has Dust Removal. All 3 have Image Stabilization (IS) in the camera body. Any K-mount (the bayonet-style lens mount Pentax introduced with the venerable K1000 35mm camera) lens will mount to them. You'll have to use manual focus but at least they'll have the benefit of IS. The K100D and K100D Super have probably dropped in price since the K10D was introduced.

For sports photography the key element is the lens. You need a really fast (f2.8 or f3.5) lens, especially for night games. Even then you'll probably need to set the ISO at 1600.

For nature photography your lens choice depends on how you define nature photography.

Birds? A good long lens - 400mm and up - used with a monopod.

Insects or flowers? A true macro lens.

Scenics? A 24mm or 28mm used with your camera on a tripod.
