You can get a pill from your vet called Capstar and it will kill all fleas on your dog within 30 minutes. It is only good for 24 hours though so you will need to get some Frontline or something like that. Also make sure you wash or treat his bedding and your home (carpet, yard, etc.) As far as something to do tonight until you can get to a vet, you can pick them off and put them in a little alcohol to kill them. Make sure your puppy doesn't get in the alcohol though.

Make sure to check with your vet before you use any of the products mentioned.

What I need you to do it check on the bottle of your shampoo and see if it can be used on whatever age your puppy is. There are certain guide lines that need to be followed just like the Directions on any human medication. If the fleas are not "off" the dog after the bath I suggest getting Frontline, or Advantage from a Veterinarian. You also can ask the Vet about a method of getting rid of the fleas in your house. Because what alot of animal owners dont understand is that you have to treat your house as well as the animal. Good luck and I hope this helped.

*Groomer...Im glad that some of us think alike, good advice.

DO NOT bathe your dog again, for at least a couple of days. You will do more harm then good. Search Organophosphate Toxicity and if you cant get anything out of the search just know that it involves flea medicines being applied again and again...and then the dog goes into seizures and could die. PLEASE be careful about the advice that is given on YA!

Flea shampoos don't work, nothing from a pet store does. You need to get a proper treatment from a vets, like Frontline. Unfortunately now that you have bathed the dog, you need to wait 48 hours before you can apply and spot-on or it won't work. You can get a Capstar from your vets in the meantime that will get the current fleas off him. Any proper flea treatment you get from a vets will keep fleas off the dog for at least a month.

Frontline or Avantage is best, but if money is the issue, buying the flea comb is ok, but slow and you need a jar or old cup of Dawn dish soap mixed with a little bit of water to kill the fleas you comb off. (to dip the comb in)
Dawn dish soap is also used to bathe Puppies and even kittens with to kill fleas and it needs to stay on for at least 5 minutes to work well.
Re- wash or rinse the Puppy well afterwards and use some hair conditioner so your
Puppy`s skin won`t dry out and itch.

P.S. Buying Advantage or Frontline from a Vet is throwing money away because for 5 or 10 dollars more you can get 3 tubes for about $30-$35.00 and a Vet will charge $25.00 for 1 tube.
I got mine at Petco which was cheaper than Petsmart. You can buy these same products online too.

Use extreme caution with flea dips and shampoos unless prescribed by your vet. Many puppies are not old enough for over the counter products. Talk to you vet about some great products like the oral pill Capstar. It will kill all fleas on you puppy within 30 minutes, then if he is old enough, your vet may recommend a product like frontline. I know that the store bought stuff is alot cheaper, but these products are designed to make money and not in the best interests of your pets

Use caution when using flea shampoos, many have age guidelines. The fleas should be dead from the shampoo, they should fall off when the coat dries. Shampoo will not repel fleas either, so if they are in the house they will find their way back.
Best thing is to use advantage or frontline if your pet is old enough.
I strongly discourage the use of flea products such as Hartz, Sargents, and those sold at discount stores. I've seen serious complications and death come from using those products.

ok i have three puppies and all came from fleamarket they were wrapped in fleas i mean bad i did some research online because the doggie flea shampoo wasnt working and it was the puppy kind , so i read that you should use dawn dish detergant , so i did but you have to cover them in it , it will not hurt them , then while they are completly covered take a comb and start brushing them you will notice they will be so slippery that the fleas will just start falling off plus it kills the eggs it has been 2 months and my puppies are flea free lol . they are much happier . hope it helps......

Depends on how old the pup is. If he/she is over 8 weeks, you an apply some Frontine and it will kill all the fleas. Make sure the flea shampoo was rated for a pup the age of yours or it can make it sick. If it's too young for any topical the only way is to drown them with water. Hold your pup under the running water and pick them off. You might need to treat the environment if it's bad enough.

he shouldn't have fleas after a bath! but, i recommend you do not use flea shampoo, esp on a puppy. it is best to use the once a month flea treatments that you apply to the dog, esp one like 'advantix' that will also kill eggs. this will reduce fleas in the house too.you can also buy a flea comb to comb him, but really get the advantix (make sure it is suitable for a puppy his age) or similar. any good pet store.

Fleas are HORRIBLE!!! I hate them. I have had to deal with this problem so many times. I found some links on an all natural website. I will send you the links I have used these remedies myself and they totally work. The best part is they are safe for our furry friends. Good luck with the pests.
PEACE
