If you want to then do it. And no, it's not slutty, the ignorant just think it is. I have a tongue piercing, and strangely enough no-one has called me a slut.
Infection? Well given that saliva has more antibodies and healing agents then your blood, you should be safe as long as you swill with salt water or mouthwash every day for a fortnight.
Artery in the tongue? Yup. But any reputable piercer will know to check, and if your artery is in the wrong place they will refuse to do it.
It takes about 2 weeks to heal (fastest healing piercing), if far more tasteful then a bellybutton piercing (how common can you get?), and will indeed make you lisp but only for a few days.
If you choose to take it out your tongue will heal within a week, contrary to most opinions here. I know because I lost my tongue bar and had to re-pierce it.
Once again contrary to other opinions here, it is also extremely discreet. Most people don't notice mine untill someone else brings up piercings in conversation. I get no grief, and I'm a teacher.
On the other hand, and not to be patronising, but you are only 14 and perhaps a little young to have such an extreme piercing. I would at the very least wait a while before deciding to go ahead, but as you said you want it done in February you should have plenty of time to change your mind.
If you really want it then do it. Other peoples opinions are just that. Opinions. Just because they say you are something doesn't make it so.
Good luck, whatever you choose.

I think it's extremely slutty and on top of that I think your mom is absolutely out of her mind to be taking you to get your tongue pierced. If you ask any guy what they think about a girl who gets their tongue pierce, they are going to say that she's a slut or a ho. I'm not calling you a slut or ho but if you get your tongue pierced you might as well be one. Your only 14! Is your mom crazy?!
You can ask any guy or girl and 9 times out of 10, they will tell you that guys and girls with tongue piercings mean that they specialize in using it. Do you really want people having that kind of opinion about you? Don't you have a little bit more respect for yourself? My boyfriend's little sister got her tongue pierced at 14 and now she is 17 with a daughter and has a dirty reputation around the neighborhood and to her own family and friends. I just cannot understand why or how your mother could think this is okay and actually take you to get this done. I'm only 21 and tongue piercings make me sick, they just scream "I GIVE BJ's".

To tell you the truth yes I do,I mean I wouldn't advise getting it done in the 1st place, but it would be a persons own decision but at your age you don't need it,there are so many other things which are cute,I don't think this is necessary, besides although you may not mean it for any sexual reasons others may prejudge on this, and even if you don't behave a certain way it just sets a negative stereotypical image for you.

I hope you realize that you cannot get a piercing done without parental permission at the age of fourteen.
If you get a piercing done without parental permission, in a place that is not that great, you are begging for a lot of trouble and a major infection.
If you are asking if total strangers think it is slutty, obviously someone in your life has said this to you.
It may not be slutty per say, but it does not prove that you are a nice young lady.
When you are a bit older, and want to get a job, many employers will not hire an applicant with piercings, they do not think they are very accepted in the business world.
I think you should wait until you are an adult to make a decision that will affect you and your body the rest of your life.
Yes, I am a Mom.
Good luck, I hope you make the correct decision.

No, it's not slutty. It is a beautiful addition to a woman's tongue. I hesitate in recommending it for a girl age 14. Suggest you wait until 18 or at least 16, and then get it. It is definitely something I like on a woman, though.

It's not slutty, I just think your a little young. I know you just want it because you like but at such a young age you might give people the wrong impression about you. I have one and I got mine for the same reason you did but I got mine when I was 17 soon to be 18, I'm 22 now and I still like it. Just wait a little longer, there's no rush.

Im almost fourteen, and from my perspective, its not slutty, but it is a little odd. Think about it: most boys aren't going to want to kiss a girl with a tongue ring, and its permenant. Yeah, you can take it out, but it will always be there. Its completely and totally up to you but just think about the consequences before you plunge right in and get your tongue pierced. There could be alot of bleeding or gross stuff involved, stuff you didnt even think of. People might look at you differently too. But its about what you think, not others, but just warning you for the social situation you're getting yourself into. Hope this helps, and you can email if you have any more questions!

A tongue piercing is only good for one thing that you should not be doing. If you are asking then you know the answer. Do you really need other peoples approval? Do you want boys and men looking at you in that way? Besides you are really to young or at least wait until you are an adult.

I got mine done when I was 14 as well. I got it because i thought it was cute. When you get older you realize things like that aren't cute anymore. Grown men don't look at your tounge ring and say "hey thats cute". In their mind they think of what that thing could do. SO in a since it does make you look like your sexual... After many years of having sick men ask me questions about it I took it out and it was the best decision ever. Now when i see people with tounge rings I realize how trashy it really does look.

No, not slutty, but not very smart.
You are making a decision at 14 that can negatively impact your earning power later in life.
How many responsible or wealthy people (not counting the entertainment industry) you know of with a tongue pierce.
If you like saying will you have fries with that for the rest of your life.
