Doesn't that prove that Christians have been ignoring the "Thou shalt not steal" rule for centuries? Or am I taking that out of context--thou shalt not steal EXCEPT from pagans and heathens?

Jeremiah 10:2 KJV Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3* For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. 4* They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. 5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.

First of all I don't appreciate you putting an X on anything with Christ in it. If you don't like Christians I advise you to stay away from them. We read this scripture differently. Since it is a tree and has to be carried it can do no harm. Christians DO NOT WORSHIP TREES.(CHRISTMAS OR NOT) How do you get "steal" ? I think maybe you are not a Christian and you are searching for something. If so , why not try God. ? He loves you and will forgive you if you would just ask from your heart. I feel very sorry for you and I pray you will find peace. I feel you are really looking for something. Don't try to tear the Bible apart. It's been around longer than any book in the world. It took 1500 years for the inspired men of God to write the scrolls. Before people can destroy it ,Jesus will come back and take the Christians out of here. Will you go or will you stay with the devil ? You should search and pray to God for redemption. Jesus is the ONLY WAY. He loves you and so do I.

There are a lot of things that the Bible very strongly condemns that have been 'OK'd' by the churches that claim to be Christian.

I guess that the scripture that relates to that is @ 2Corinth 11:13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself keeps transforming himself into an angel of light. 15 It is therefore nothing great if his ministers also keep transforming themselves into ministers of righteousness. But their end shall be according to their works.

I would say that this scripture applies to all those that teach doctrine that is in direct contradiction with the Bible & the principles written there. Can anyone think of a single, so-called 'Christian' religion that this DOESN'T apply to.

Obviously, yes, you are taking it out of context.

The whole issue in Jeremiah 10 is idol worship.

A Christmas tree is NOT used as idol worship.

Please take a moment to read ABOUT scripture that you quote and attempt to find the real meaning.

I'm a Christian and I do celebrate Christmas w/ a Christmas tree...but I do not believe it is thievery, esp against the reference that you quoted as that is vague at best to be a Christmas tree. Traditions for the holiday have been handed down thru the ages. "Thou shalt not steal" is all inclusive...but I think you're reference is way out of context.

when Constantine and the Romans invented the bible in 325ad, they combined Jewish, pagan, and early christian ideas so they could control all the masses. December 22nd is the winter solstice... the shortest day..it lies dead for three days and is resurrected on the 25th......every year the sun of god is reborn on the 25th of December..... then the Easter solstice represents when good over takes evil....more than 12 hours of daylight......both pagan ideas.....the more you study the origins of the bible the more you will see it is a book to spread fear and to control....study other religions to find peace

Hello,

That was the old testament and its laws. An adulteress too was supposed to get her own private rock concert but Christ said after, ye who is without sin cast the first stone. Similarly pork and shell fish were forbidden but all that changed in the new testament so hopefully you get my drift.

Cheers,

I agree that it is talking about trees and it is telling us not to bring them in out house and decorate them . but you will be told you are wrong like I was from all the lovers of stuff.God is not stuff and Jesus is enough we don't need trees and santa and all the stuff

your taking it out of context. the old testament laws were fulfilled when Jesus came and died on the cross. we no longer have to live by those laws. then you might say"what about the ten commanment?" each on of those commandments are relisted in the new testament.

oh, try reading it in a more modern version. go to www.biblegateway.com and find that verse. but read it in NIV or the Message version

That is far from what it says.
More fishing.
It talks about carving up a tree for idol worship.
At least study a bit before you try to get people riled up.
