one would think the master would also be a master craftsman, but the Bible says nothing (at least I've seen nothing). Shouldn't some of his handiwork still be around?
... or maybe he was a failure. That would explain why he went on to do, uh, other things.

A physician? Well, here's one for you.. If god came down to earth as JC why with all his greatness and power why would he want to be a carpenter - illiterate at best? After creating the Universe, all substances within it, all forces of life on this planet from nothing and simultaneously be able to watch everything and know what everyone was thinking? Having caused volcanoes to destroy, cyclones and tornadoes to devastate, earthquakes, famine, lightning bolts and plagues to wipe out many populations. Then this god decides to be a carpenter? Then when on the cross ask himself why did he forsake himself. Fantastic story don't you think? I do not know or can even imagine how anyone can actually believe this - let alone talk me into it. Now he is a physican! Well I guess he or it just does it all now doesn't he/it? Where does it all end?

The Bible does not say that Jesus was poor.
Carpentry was a lucrative profession in Jesus' time. He gave that up to become homeless and preach His message. Tho homeless, He still had money to pay taxes and provide for His followers--the Last Supper, for ex.
Also, at His birth, the Bible does not say Mary and Joseph could not afford a room in the Inn. It says there was no room in the Inn.

I don't really know! No where does the Bible state that He was a carpenter. It states that Joseph was a carpenter and He was refereed to as the Son of a carpenter but it was usual in those days for the Son to follow in the trade of the Father.

Would His supposed failure include your ignorance? You posed an interesting question and I've wondered the same thing myself. Maybe that was where the phrase "Measure twice, cut once" came from. I'm sure after creating the earth, everything in and on it, and space, I'm sure making a table or some chairs weren't that big of deal.

Well-a skilled carpenter was a valuable person in those days, & considering that Mary was still very much alive, when Jesus started His ministry, I would guess that he was quite good., as she apparently healthy.

Correct translation says Joseph and Jesus were alchemists, not carpenters. The bloodline family tree says the same.

Only the people that grew up with Jesus know if he was a good carpenter, but all those people are dead.
