From looking at my owns daughters (3 of them) Father/Daughter Dance pictures, etc...
I'd have liked to see the daughter, not the father, be the center of the picture. The girls are usually so small compared to their fathers that they get lost in the picture.
One pose I'd really have liked would have been a close in...daughters head resting on fathers shoulder.
Maybe something touching like father handing daughter a flower...
Dad sitting to the side of the daughter, her standing up .....

Anything, anything but the common, run of the mill, both looking forward in the camera thing.

Portrait Poses Ideas

Any pose or prop is okay. I would just but some picture frames that has to do with Mother's or Father's Day. Also maybe you could have them some shirts made to where in the picture that say Daddy's Girl or Mommy's Girl, you get the idea.

They have given some ideas for generic static poses, but if you can get some feeling of movement into the pics, they might be nicer.

Daughters arms around pops neck, getting swung a bit, to get hair movement.

Some sort of dance look, with slight dipping.

Cheek to cheek, cutesy stuff, might be a little goofy for him, but with a 12yo daughter, not bad.

Maybe him on a knee, presenting her with bouquet,

Maybe the 2 of them with ball gloves, bats, etc...., for props. Props are always a good thing.

Something dressy, matching jacket, shirt, and ties, etc...

Need to know the age of the daughter...

I was a photographer at Sear's Portrait Studio... your photographer should suggest some poses, but sometimes they can be just as clueless.

Daughter's age would effect the posing.

a semi-posed/candid one would be of the little girl dancing with her dad, but she would be stepping on her dads feet. ya know what im talking about?

I like Aidan's answers. How about sitting back to back with her sort of leaning on her dad?! I don't know... lol! I'd just go with one of Aidan's! :o)
