Does anyone out there know how to peel and onion ?

I can peel one but I haggle it up so bad.. I can peel a potato but an onion is another thing..

I know chop the ends off.. but that is where I make my mistake..Chop to much off i think.

You might to want to try this. I watched a master chef peel an onion. Slice the end until almost cut through and rotate the onion away from the bottom of the cut. This will start the peeling. Do the same thing with the other end. It is easy then to finish the job. It takes a bit of practice.
When it comes to onions I suggest if you wear glasses remove them. The best thing is to first find a war surplus store and buy a gas mask. ;-)

I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard if you chop an onion while chewing gum, you won't cry..

Anyway, cut the ends off the onion, cut in half, and peel off the skin

I cut the onion in half first, and then for each half, I take a paring knife and pull back the outer leaves to the stem end, and remove them. It's easier than peeling an entire onion in one attempt.

u first peel the layers
then u chop it down the middle
and keep peeling
BEWARE: it will make your eyes water
do never touch your eye while or after you peel an onion
always wash hands with soap before you rub them

I just cut off the top and then the root bottom, slice into the side just deep enough to get the out layer off and just peel away.

lol. i'm good at peeling onions. they still make me cry. i can't peel a tater right to save my life. i always take off way too much skin.

Cut both ends off then cut in half, it's a lot easier to get the skin off.

no but my friend eats them like she would eat an apple. gross. try using some kind of tool to do it
