How can one have a peaceful, open-minded conversation with a christian. They quote the bible as the word of god when it was clearly written by man. They ignore scientific fact in favor of religious fiction. I don't know about a chemical imbalance but i do know that they are ignorent because they do not analyse, question or research the origins of their own religion.

Take Jesus into your heart, blah, blah, blah...I get tired of hearing that. Sorry, I am not an angry person, but everyone needs to give the preaching a rest. I have just began learning about Buddhism(which is amazing by the way), and I have never heard so many opinions about "what I need to believe in" from everyone else.(Christians)
I neither support or condemn Christianity, I think that many people have been helped by it...but I do know a little about "chemical unbalancement"...as I have been told in the past that I have this. I can't speak for anyone else, but I have found that eating healthier and not poisoning my self with alcohol and nicotine has helped me more than any antidepressant ever has.
Of coarse there are people in the world with very intense mental problems that do need some form of medication. I think that peaceful, open-minded conversation is amazing for me...but it may not be an option for everyone.

Very clever question. I didn't click on your link because I already know what your question is about. You are confused about someone who truly believes. You don't understand or believe that anyone really has a relationship with God. What you can't understand you condemn. Satan blinds the eyes of non-believers. What you don't understand also is that Children of Light rejoice in persecution. The more we are persecuted in Jesus name the more Glory we receive in Heaven. You can too be a Child of Light right now. Just accept God's gift, repent and believe. May God bless you

Because they are so pompously arrogant that they cannot IMAGINE another person seeing the same "evidence" they do and coming to a different conclusion. After all, they are cleary the most intelligent people on the planet, so anyone who diagrees MUST be mentally deficient, right?
I generally ignore people like that. You'd have better luck getting a brick wall to carefully consider what you have to say.

Anecdotally, I present to you my fundamentalist brother in law, who refuses to take his medications. Nobody can stand to be around him. After 35 years, my sister is on the verge of divorcing him. He's a sad, sick b**tard who needs medication.
I don't use unaccredited, junk medicine websites as evidence. Mental illness exists and there is no stigma attached to it. Many religious fanatics are indeed chemically unbalanced. The good news is new and better medications are on the way.
In fact, YOU try having a peaceful conversation with him. You'll be shoving the medication at him, screaming "Shut up! Take your medicine! It's not a chemical conspiracy!"

Hello Jasumi!
I have seen your posts, and you have a very good balance, and that is often lacking in many devout religions. Balance is life!
You are so right! persecution is so bad!
Because people here can hide behind a keyboard, the civility goes out the window!
Peace be with you! nice to hear from you.

You have to be willing to admit that your viewpoint is not open minded. You accuse others of something negative without any evidence, only your personal opinion. Until you are more willing to be fair, you will not get the peaceful discussion you ask for.

lol,
not sure how funny you are trying to be, but you made me laugh :)
taking another look at your question
edit - five minutes later
looked at the link
got to admit, i have been accused of having a "chemical unbalancement" lots of times. in fact, when i was little, they even talked my mother in to giving me a bunch of drugs for my "condition" that didn´t last long, she wound up taking me to at least a dozen doctors, finally there was a couple of them that agreed saying "don´t do that to your poor kid, let him run, after he hits a few trees, he´ll slow down" to sum it up, they said i would grow out of it, no need for the "medication"
still, you made me laugh ;)

Liberalism is a mental disorder. Atheist have persecuted more cultures than all religions combine, yet liberals deny this fact.
