You won't be able to show anyone a green card or a document in lieu of a green card until the day that your adjustment of status has been approved, and you are granted permanent resident status.

While your application is pending, you are not considered to be a lawful permanent resident. You won't have any proof of being a lawful permanent resident until the first day you are one.

In the meantime, you will have to find another form of financial aid such as a loan from a friend or relative.

Fred is correct, but I'm curious, on what basis are you adjusting status?
