You absolutely CANNOT keep different species together. The chances are high of them killing each other. Two females together are perfect and they will be happy together. Just be sure to get another friend for one of them if one dies...they have been known to suffer from a type of depression if they are suddenly alone after having a cage mate.

You probably can't keep any other species in the same cage with them, if that's what you mean.
Once I had 2 species of mouse in the same cage, but they were both mice. A rat or hamster is likely to kill a mouse.
Now if you had a really big cage you might be able to keep a rabbit or a guinea pig with the mice, but they eat different food.
I once had 2 rats and a rabbit and a guinea pig in the same cage, and they got along fine. They even cuddled together. But you'd have to make sure the mice couldn't get out of it. Really it's generally easier to keep them separate.

Hmm, hamsters and rats see mice as a meal. Gerbils would kill them because gerbils are territorial. Cats would eat them. Snakes would eat them. Dogs would eat them. Birds would probably eat them. They'd drown with fish. A turantula would eat them. The mice would eat a giant cockroach. The mice might eat a giant millipede. Crickets would eat the mice.

Nope, guess you can't go around housing a bunch of pets together.
