That's what some people claim. Didn't he go to the cross willingly? I knownhis death and resurrection was the climax of his mission on earth. Why would some people say he tried to escape the cross? Isn't that the way some Muslims believe?

Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray. During the prayer he states that if God could let this cup pass, do it, BUT NOT MY WILL BUT THINE BE DONE. He was in such anguish that his sweat resembled drops of blood (corpuscles break near the skin for this to occur, I know a Veterinarian who has seen this happen to a horse.). Just after praying, Judas Iscariot came with the religious leaders and kissed Jesus in betrayal. You have to read the Bible and understand that when Jesus was born of Mary, he emptied himself of all his godly authority and so, was a MAN who prayed for this not to happen, but God's will be done. He is our example. (If he were a God-Man as some preach, how could he be an example for us humans? He was a man, human, like us.)

Yes, Jesus did go to the cross willingly. He knew that to go through with it was the only way to allow faithful people to have salvation and forgiveness of sins.

But Jesus knew it would be the most terrible experience, especially as he had not sinned.

Jesus knew that God would fulfill His promise and that he would be raised from death on the third day.

It is a total blessing that Jesus gave himself that sinners might be saved.

Jesus being born a man even though perfect was still tested as far as death. He also felt pain, physically and emotionally just as we all do. He didn't want to go through this terrible form of human suffering but knew it was his Fathers will to fulfill that which was written. So he willingly gave his life because he loved the Father and all of mankind to become a sacrifice for our sins. For Christ to die on his own merits without protection from his Father, God withdrew His holy spirit so Christ would die willingly. When he said, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me" it was then that Jesus knew that he had to die of his own accord and indeed he did.

He asked his Father if there was another that could take his cup? He knew what was to come. He sweated drops of blood over it. He went to the cross willingly. The ultimate act of love.

Jesus knew His mission and exactly what it entailed. He said, "45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many."(Mark 10:45) He knew He would give His life. "14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father."(John 10:14-18)
People would try to say He tried to escape the cross because they do not want to believe He is God's Son! There are many who want you to believe He was just an ordinary man!

P.S. Jesus was quoting from the old testiment, "1 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?"(Ps 22:1) Here's another, "28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst."(John 19:28) He knew all about the Old Testiment - He is the author!

Thats not quiet right. He questioned if there may be another way to redeem the world besides the cross. Since there was not-he willingly submitted to crucifixion.

He prayed to avoid this in the Garden of Gethsemane, but when God didn't answer His prayer he went willingly. Satan provided Him many opportunities to escape but He knew the fate of man rested upon His shoulders.

Jesus did go to the cross willingly, but he also said,"If it is your will, take this cup from me" meaning, God, if it is your will, remove this burden from me. He was still willing to do what was necessary.

That is a horrible lie. I'm appalled!!!!!!!!! He always knew and went willingly. As a man I'm sure he would have taken another route if one were available. As Deity, he knew there wasn't and did what he came to do.

Thanks For Your Question :)

Well as Muslims we believe that Jesus is a glorified messenger and prophet of God And since he was so Gloryfied god refuses for anyone to cross his messenger or any other messenger God says "And because of their saying (in boast), "We killed Messiah 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), the Messenger of Allah," - but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but the resemblance of 'Iesa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man), and those who differ therein are full of doubts. They have no (certain) knowledge, they follow nothing but conjecture. For surely; they killed him not [i.e. 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary) "

If you want to talk more about it :) feel free to message me the story is more deeper and detailed than that

may God guides us all to the right path !
