Exploding batteries.

Metal fragments from machine cutting or grinding. (These are common machine and auto shop injuries.)

Handball injury.

Being struck in the face in such a way that bone shards damage the eyeball.

Being struck in the face in such a way that the eye is put under such pressure that it bursts. (These last two are common industrial, farming, and logging accidents.)

(Seeing any protective eyewear theme developing?)

Automobile and other accidents which cause debris to cut or pierce the eyeball.

Exploding fireworks too near the face.

Amateur rocketry launched into the face or the eye directly.

Gee, there are tons of ways.

A small portion of all cases of blindness are caused by the intake of certain chemicals. A well-known example is methanol found in methylated spirits, which are sometimes used by alcoholics as a cheap substitute for regular alcoholic beverages.

yes, you can go blind if you are hit in the head with a blunt object (a hammer, or a plank of wood) but only if it is in the right spot (it causes the retena to detatch from the eye). chemicals can damage your eyes, and so can the sun, particularly an eclipse.

With the newer types of insulin these days, diabetic diets aren't necessarily as restrictive as they used to be. Read here https://tr.im/2Wm3f
As with any medicine or diet change, you should discuss it with your doctor. Fruits, both fresh and dried, have a natural sugar in them that will raise blood sugar levels, so be careful about eating too much. Not sure about the nuts. Moderation is always the key. I've been diabetic for 18 years and just recently changed insulin types. I love it because it gives me more freedom in when and what I eat.

Being on the computer in a dark room I know effects your vision, but I don't think it can cause blindness . I heard aging can cause blindness as well .

Why would you be writing an essay on how to blind yourself? I don't believe any responsible teacher would assign such an essay. I'm a teacher.

I know for a fact staring at the sun or a solar eclipse will make you lose your sight. And squinting will weaken your vision over time.
