Yes, the price of gas is going up, so the added cost is passed on to the consumer by the shipping industry.

I've heard that the increase in the price of milk has been caused by the increase in fuel prices to transport that commodity and the increase in the price of corn to feed cows.
This should be an incentive for people to shun cow's milk which isn't good for people anyway, and ingest moderate amounts of soy, more broccoli, spinach and rice milk, since these sources of calcium are way better for you.
I would imagine these reasons or excuses transfer into other areas of grocery items as well.
Fruit crops experienced a damaging cold snap here a while back in California, so we may be feeling the effects of that now. Fruit has been somewhat expensive for a few months actually. California provides a significant portion of the U.S.A's fruit's and vegetables

gal of milk in the general Seattle area is anywhere from 2. 86 and up it matters where you shop. I think because gas prices are higher this year the cost of delivery is high making food prices higher try feed a family of 6 and Christmas presents ?

Super Wal-mart has dropped many things ,we used to enjoy buying! You can tell especially with chicken, and their beef was already outrageous! It was televised that milk products were going up.So, we have a Dollar General store up the street we get most household stuff:alum.foil, tissue, cleaning supplies ,canned cream and sodas are cheaper there. We always make up a 6 day menu .And try to have salad night,or sandwich/soup night.
We had discount grocery stores, where Walmarts aveage price may be $6-$8 ,we can go buy 2 chickens for around $5.50. And put one in the freezer.
We buy breads at a bakery up the street .
We are lucky to have different discount places close by!

With the price of gas going up what seems like daily, groceries have to be trucked in and that takes gas. They have to pay for the gas somehow, so that gets passed down to the consumer in the form of higher prices.

i mean you just have to cope with it because with all this money being spent on war the prices for oil going up, its all around going to affect everyone,
first off you need oil to make things and make things run, like tha milking machines for cows, because the farmers need to pay more to do so, they must raise the prices of milk so they can earn their profit again

yes, it is going up since the strike 3 years ago. I shop first online to save money and gas, and time, then I shop by the ads so I don't spend gas driving around. If you want to join my wholesale shoppers club, just let me know.
