98% of everything in this world belongs to the wealthiest 2% of the population. And, the simple fact is that almost all of the evil committed in this world is either the result of the actions the wealthy take to stay wealthy or the result of the actions of the most desperate of the 98% of humanity that are left with very little of anything to sustain them.

God's people.., He/God has given us ALL THINGS that pertain to life and godliness! This world fits into the category of "pertaining to life", wouldn't you think.
Adam abdicated his power and authority to satan/devil and so the plan for Jesus to come and "redeem" mankind and give them back their power and authority over the Earth was executed and was culminated in Jesus Christ's death, burial & resurrection and is still being put into practice. Of course, the devil doesn't want anyone to KNOW he has been defeated and as soon as YOU know it, his power in your life is over. So, he yells and screams against Christ's followers and puts out the propoganda that this is all "religion" rather than "life and eternity". He does a pretty good job, but if you EVER ask Jesus to come and BE your Lord, the devils OUT forever unless you change your mind.
Great question and also, we are joint-heirs with Jesus Christ. That means when He said, after his resurrection, that He had been given all authority over heaven and earth as His inheritance because of taking the keys of life and death away from satan, that I am "EQUAL HEIR" with Him and He gave back our rightful inheritance!
The devil is 'god of this world system' that has not be subjected to God, meaning, Jesus is LORD, but it doesn't count for anyone who has not asked, confessed it and submitted to His lordship. It's like we who belong to the Lord are living within our spiritual kingdom upon the Earth while the fallen world system is still going on. We are here to colonize the people of the "world" into God's system by evangelism. When it's all said and done, God's people rightfully own this world!

It belongs to all life here on earth, the earth really cannot belong to anyone, because it was created and given freely to all forms of life.

1 John 5:19 answers that question. It says "We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one." The wicked one being none other than Satan the Devil himself.
2 Corinthians 4:4 says - "among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through." So it calls Satan the God of this system of things.

What do you mean by "world" (whoa, that was deep)
the answer is YOU, because only you can see the world through your eyes. (kinda like if a tree falls in the woods and nobody hears it, did it make a sound)?
yes, the planet is here and stuff is going on, but if YOU aren't around to experience it, what does it matter?
the world belongs to YOU!

Joh 14:30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
2Co 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
2Co 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Eph 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Someone is always willing to tell you that you don't even own the ground under your own two feet. The founding fathers believed in life, liberty, and property. I think we are better members of our community if we focus on the liberty part. The ownership of property has hung up many, many civilizations.

God, of course is the rightful owner of earth, but He has given it into the hands of humans.
Psalms 115:16 The heavens are the heavens of the LORD, But the earth He has given to the sons of men.
