i would try cropping it so that it didn't look like those glass beads didn't end right where the image ended. Maybe if it looked more like the glass beads went beyond the image and you had some cut off on the bottom edge and on the sides.. I didn't want to download your pic then try that effect, but you get my drift hopefully.

I would agree about more DOF, but I think to lead the eye deeper into the composition you should get some light on the edge of the vase facing the camera (the top), you may need two lights one on each side, but scrim off the light so it only hits the very edge, being glass it should look good, and will also compliment the rest of the round shapes in the image.
Also, clean the surface of the table, there are two visible spots in the foreground.
A good shot, it is interesting to a point, but your entering the realm of fine art when your shooting still life compositions. Fine art requires attention to the most minute detail. These types of images, at least for me, involve some evolution or revision, rarely do I nail it the first time around.
Sorry to be so annal, but I am trying to help.
Good luck with the contest, and keep shooting!!!

I was thinking the same thing. I wish the depth of field would have been greater, thus everything was in focus. Can it be done again? Set the aperture to the smallest possible.

Agree with the others, you need to focus on the focus a bit more. Has the potential to be a great shot, though, so don't give up on it.

IMO it would work better if the entire foreground was in focus with the background going out of focus.

I'd also try one with everything in focus just for comparison.
