Usually they sell them in the supermarket. Next to all the millions shelves of Christmas products - look for a quarter of a shelf that dedicated for Hanukkah products. You'll find there Hanukkah candles. Good Luck. Happy Hanukkah.

If you plan to celebrate Hanukah - you need the 9 candle menorah. The rule is to light the "service candle" and then one for each day of the holiday. So one on the first day, two on the second day, three on the third ...etc. The 7 candle menorah is a symbol of the great menorah in the Jerusalem Temple. When the Temple stands, the priests light it every morning. You don't *need* it for any ritual purpose -- only as a logo of Jewishness.

Most synagogue gift shops have them. Or you can order them from a catalogue "Hammakor Judaica". Nowadays, people are using electric menorahs, since candles burn out so fast, make a mess and present a fire hazard. According to Jewish tradition, however, only the original wax candles should be used. I guess it's really the people's choice.

Any Temple will sell the candles, look up in the local phone book and pick a Synagogue near you and go to their office or their gift shop and buy them. I spent 2 yrs in St. Charles, MO and we got candles in the supermarket in Creeve Core.

Hi there - I'm a St. Louisian too - lived here all my life. All the Reform Synagogues have gift shops that are selling them. The Dierbergs and Schnucks stores in predominately Jewish areas carry them as well. (Try the Dierbergs at Craig and Olive.) I know that Target is stocking them this year as well, and usually linnens and things does as well. Good luck!!

All major grocery stores sell them. Go to the Kosher Aisle or ask where they have the Chanukah stuff.

You can also find Chanukah candles in most Hallmark stores.
