My male friend left town for a couple of days. But, when he returned he asked me if I had slept with someone else in his absence. Yes, me and him have slept together but, he's constantly telling me that it means nothing. What would be the reason for a guy to ask a girl this?

Because he's a jerk! And he obviously thinks you are trash for sleeping with him. You deserve better than someone who treats you like this.
