Nina- not to be harsh, but I'm not asking how we gain salvation. There's a million and one passages in the Bible that tell how to gain salvation. I want to know what you think salvation is- what is it to you?.... but thanks for your answer.

This may not come across clearly but here goes:

Salvation, to me, is knowing that my soul has been spared eternal damnation by my believing in what Christ did on the cross which God has first wrought in the lives of man.

Justification is recieveing mercy and forgiveness of our sins through having faith in Jesus Christ.

Salvation means that our souls are safe.

Justification means that we can then stand before a Holy God.

As Christians we believe only through believing in Chris Jesus can we be saved.
Romans10: 9-10 "If you confess with your lips and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead - then you will be saved"

Because of the fall of man in the beginning - we were separated from God - so God sent His Son Jesus to be a sacrifice for us (to take our place on the cross) that we might have a way back to God The Father - when we choose Jesus as Saviour - we are reconciled with God. We are all God's children - but some are still separated until they receive Jesus - He wants all His children back -- Hope this helps...
Shalom

sorry forgot to say what Salvation means to me:
knowing in my heart i have accepted Christ as my Saviour and Lord -- **it's a heart knowing** xx

It means you have repented of your sins(sorry/commit to do no more), receive the Holy Ghost(birth of the spirit), and get baptized in Jesus' name(specifically). This represents the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. When you repent, your sins are forgiven(buried). The HG is the birth of the spirit. Thus the "old man" is dead. In baptism, you raised to walk in newness of life the Bible says. Acts 2:38-9 is the plan of salvation. Please feel free to contact me or upci, org for more info. God Bless!-Salvation is freedom in Jesus and Heaven eternally!!!!!!!!!!!

To me there are two types of salvation. One from the grave and one from sin.
Christ gave us all the first type of salvation through His atonement and resurrection. We receive this fully by His grace.
The second type- salvation from sin- comes through the atonement as well, but we receive it according to our faith and works as well. When we attain this salvation we are able to continue to grow, learn and progress in the presence of God which is Eternal Life.

Salvation through Jesus Christ is the defeat of death -- all mankind will be resurrected and have the opportunity to return to the presence of God.

Salvation is by the mercy and grace of God only. Deeds do not get us saved. But Jesus who is the Father God asks us to do good to others out of love, not out of requirement.

Deliverance from the wrath of God to come.
It is the gift of and from God from start to finish.
Salvation cannot be earned, gained or worked for.
I do not work to get it and I do not work to keep it.
