With a US visa you can go to America and go to India freely because it is not prohibited by the US Immigration Office.

Mere possession of a visa does not guarantee that you will be admitted. You use the visa to apply for admission, and if the inspecting officer is satisfied that you are clearly and beyond a doubt admissible in every respect, he will grant you admission.

However, you sound like you have the correct visa to accomplish the purpose of your trip to the U.S. Aliens may use visitor visas to pass through the U.S. in transit which is what you are describing.

Based upon what you have said, I would say that your chances of being able to pass through the U.S. on your way to India and on your way back to Canada from India are excellent.

Just make sure that you do not stay away from canada for more than 3 years or you WILL lose your PR status.
