I have been experiencing mid to lower left back pain on and off for a few months now. It seems to occur at night and I can't sit, lie, stand etc in comfort. The pain extends into my chest cavity and when I get upset or anxious because of the pain it makes it worse and it hurts when I breath. I have no breathlessnes or anything just pain. I went to the docs and they discluded kideny problems (no other related symptoms and clear urine) I had xrays which showed slight scoliosis (which I have known and had for ages). She put me on anitiflammatories which seems to be helping. But I am now getting pain in my mid lower back and I feel very. very tired(even before going on the anitinflams.). Only just the other day I had some chest pain as well. if anyone has had a similar experience with a diagnosis or suggestions please let me know. I have had fullon blood tests which shows consistant low iron (taking iron and multivitamins too) and a colonoscpoy but everthing is showing up normal.

Back pain can be due to many causes including a muscle strain or spasm. Problem with Scoliosis is that it can cause such muscle spasms. As other things have been ruled out, you might want to drink cranberry juice for the kidneys and you are on anti-inflammatory medications, it might just be a spasm. We have a tendency to alter the posture when we are in pain, shift the weight from the area that hurts and put other areas under stress and strain. You do not state if you are active, so you might want to take up a Pilate's Class and they will teach you about breathing properly, let alone posture, very important with scoliosis.

Are you sure it's not internal? If it's internal it could be an infection or even a kidney stone. Women don't get many kidney stones though & I wouldn't expect a young one for sure. If it's just a back muscle I have no idea what caused it. Maybe you just slept on it wrong overnight or while taking a nap on the couch. You might try Ibuprofen. It's an antinflammatory which I think is good for this type pain. Don't take more than the recommended dose either. You might also try some of those heat patches at the pharmacy if you don't already have a heating pad. I think heat is usually good for sore muscles. Ice packs are usually used to bring down swelling or relieve headaches.

it is hard to tell what is wrong with you or what is causing back pain. see a chiropractor or a physical therapist to get a good diagnosis. you must know what is going on. a pain can signal that there is something wrong with your body.

most cases of simple backache respond to pain relief measure like rest, aspirin and the application of heat applied by hot water or heating pad. in cases where pain persists or becomes more acute, a physician should be consulted. he may also locate a slipped disk or other abnormality in the alignment of the vertebrae of the spine.
