White chocolate is not chocolate. In order for a product to be leagaly called chocolate there are very strick guidelines that manufactorers must follow. White chocolate here in the States must contain a minimum of 20% cocoa butter, White chocolate is actually the lack of chocolate, it conatins no cocoa solids or cocoa mass (liquor). Cocoa butter usually mixed with cream, or milk, sugar and vanilla. There are countries in Europe that want to have it name change.

No. . . it is just called chocolate, in fact it is just cocoa butter and vanilla and fool people into thinking it is chocolate....Real chocolate is dark brown, comes from the cocoa bean..When you eat white chocolate, you will taste the difference. To me, it is just a vanilla coating ...I am a true chocolate lover, so I know my chocolate. . .

No its not really chocolate...

White chocolate is not really chocolate. It's a mixture of sugar, cocoa butter, milk solids, lecithin and vanilla. There is no chocolate liquor in it, which means there is very little chocolate flavor.

Yes, it is really chocolate. Chocolate is made from cocoa butter (the fat from the cocoa bean) and cocoa solids (the de-fatted bean). White chocolate has the cocoa butter but not the solids. Milk and dark chocolate have both.
