definitely. It was a pagan holiday of family and community before Christians :"borrowed" it, and it is a secular cultural holiday today.

I don't see why not. The christians borrowed christmas from the pagans. Its not a crime if atheist celebrate any religious holiday anyway. Sometimes its just fun to celebrate.

I enjoy the holiday and the opportunity to be with friends and family I may not see the rest of the year. Plus I like buying gifts for people and making my boat look pretty.
Frankly it has become more of a tradition than a religious holiday lately and only really fundie Christians get all jeeebusy anyway.

of course- it is NOT a religious holiday- it started out as a pagan holiday and now it is a time of family get togethers , gift giving and getting commercialism, etc.
The question is should Christians celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday in the same way with the same traditions, trimmings and tappings as the pagans did ?

christmas is a pagan holiday... you can tell by the tree and santa clause.. the religification of the holiday is symbolized by the biblical characters...
by the way.. the original meaning of pagan is.... practice no religion serve no god.... so in every context atheist should be celebrating christmas.

Presents rock.
Should christians erect christmas trees or eat chocolate easter bunnies, both of which are pagan symbols? Should they drink pasteurized milk, when the process was invented by an atheist?

Considering Christmas isn't Christian, should Christians be celebrating it too?
I wonder how smart people feel when they ask these questions...

If they choose to, why not? It's really more a cultural thing in the West now than a religious one.
