Both!!! LOL I am with on the facts that this is R/S, and it is not always such a peaceful place to be...against on the comments that the entire point of personal enlightenment is R/S, and that spirit beings (as true Selves) would be appalled, and "the point of all this is to bring about peace, love and harmony".
Okay, on the against side...the entire point of personal enlightenment is to gain wisdom--of many virtues, taken from the many experiences, of the many opportunities, from the many possibilities--not solely R/S.
As our spirit Selves, we would not be appalled by any of choices of being otherwise...we understand the purposes of such...it is when in those "otherwise" states that we forget that--it's part of the adventure.
The point in all this is for seekers to explore answers and for answerers to express of themselves so that seekers have options of choice...what rings their soul chimes as something they would like to hold on to.
The ideals of peace, love, & harmony are of individual opinion, as well as those of like-minded gatherings...all having their own concepts of such, created from their choices during experiences.
I wish you much of all three!!! Good Journey!!!

I first started coming to y/a full of hope. Believing that this was going to be a great place to exchange different perceptions and insights.
I soon came to see that was only my "invisible" contract I had made up and forged y/a's signature on it.
"My" new reality is to use this site as a way to practice patience and tolerance, because everyone doesn't see things the way I do. (and that's o.k, right?)
Appalled? At times, but I realize that people are angry, confused, frustrated, tired...the list can go on and on.
When I take all these in consideration and think about, even though I dont like alot of these peoples views...It doesn't make their feelings go away.
I like to know how people are feeling even if I dont agree; I need to know.
Sorry for getting so dramactic, having one of those days.
Let's not worry so much what we don't find. I'm with you, what we dont find we can bring.
Blessings to you.
P.S. Almost forgot to mention, that I cant just always assume that my views are always "right"
When I do, I stop being teachable.
Stay here with an open mind.

I am not sure that the whole point of personal enlightenment in every religion is to bring about peace and completeness. In some religions, for example, the point is to strive for heroic greatness and see how far you can get. The point of other religions is simply to worship their God. It just varies.

religion or belief has always been a topic of disagreement amongst people. if you're looking for enlightenment or peace, this obviously isn't the place. those who don't believe, for the most part, love to bash and of those that do believe, many have the wrong idea of christianity and feel the need to get even. it's the way of humanity i guess.

confident I nevertheless have faith that sacrifice is mandatory. The Egyptian faith replaced right into a philosophy of loss of existence, and the terrific of the egyption gods Osiris, the god of loss of existence. interior the initiation the proper attempt replaced into that of the tomb : purely the guy that replaced into prepared to die could desire to be resuscitated. So now I presume it is our inner zoo we could sacrifice, which I presume are the weaknesses and passions, greed, lust, sensuality and so forth, through remodeling the the brute tension. So cheer up regardless of the reality which you're suffering now i'm specific you will get there at some point (comedian tale ). Thankyou.

I agree with the spirit of your question. The problem is, people believe that there is a lot riding on the correctness of their religious beliefs, and the incorrectness of the beliefs of others (the fate of their immortal soul -- could the stakes be any higher?), so tempers run a little high when debating religion.

To answer your question I am going to use a quote from Carl Sagan.
"It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring."
It is my personal belief that personal peace should not come in the way of universal knowledge.

There are many here with the mistaken belief that their way is the only true path.
I have no such delusions, so I do not feel the need to push my beliefs on others. I am merely here to answer questions and correct misconceptions about other religions.

I'm with you on this, it doesn't make sense, all the hate some peoples heart. I don't get how people who have gone through nothing that bad have all the pain and hate in their hearts, when the people who have gone through hell on earth have all the peace, joy and love in their hearts.

i'm a bodhisattva i am not to become enlightened until all others are enlightened and i am to help others become enlightened. i am unenlightened and still retain the right and ability to become non-peacefull but i prefer peace but at times non-peace can bring about peace. also no one here will attain enlightenment if they are seeking it. he who tries to attain enlightenment will never attain it.
