What should i buy to prevent Fleas or any other bugs?

Fleas are HORRIBLE!!! I hate them. I have had to deal with this problem so many times. I found some links on an all natural website. I will send you the links I have used these remedies myself and they totally work. The best part is they are safe for our furry friends. Good luck with the pests.
PEACE

One thing that's important to know as a pet owner is that NO flea treatment from Petsmart, or any other store, will work. Stores are not licensed to sell the appropriate drugs for safe and effective flea control, so don't waste your money!

Pick up some proper flea treatment from your vets - Frontline, Advantage, Revolution or Advocate. These are all very effective, and the only flea treatments worth getting really. Baths are useless against flea treatment, and you have to wait 48 hours after bathing before you can use a spot-on or it won't work.

If you have any other questions about general pet care, do ask your vet. It's good to build-up a good relationship with a good vet - they should be happy to always be on the end of the phone when you have a question, it's what they're there for.

Poor You! I know what it's like, It is very hard to get rid of them. I have two INDOOR cats but I also let in the neighbors cat-who had fleas. You can guess what happened! First you have to wash everything, which means- your puppy, all bed clothing, sofa covers in hot soapy water. What you can't wash-vaccumn well, including the whole house, (every second day)
all the same day-otherwise,they will travel. Then spray everything with Zodiac Premise plus spray. And also your dog with a similar flea spray for animals. Buy a flea collar or flea capsules(pk of three-one per month-to put between shoulder bones of puppy. I also had flea bites on me-so... itchy. I used Benedryl cream. It helped abit. Good Luck! Be Patient-because it could take months to fully get rid of them

You may want to buy a flea collar, as well as some flea powder. And good job on the bathing part! Oh, make sure you have some special prescibed shampoo for fleas, which you can get from your vet. As for yourself and your house, I would say to call and doctor and clean your house well. There may also be some powder or something that you can get for your house.

Hmmm... Well I would expect that the cause of her fleas was the exposure to the other dogs at such a young age. The person you got the puppy from should have told you that you shouldn't bring the dog till it is at an older age and has a stronger immune system, but since you are new to dog owning, I don't blame you at all. The Dog could have also caught airborne diseases from this kind of exposure, ( just for future references. ) I would ask your vetrenarian about the best kind of medicine for her age group OVER THE PHONE. Don't bring her to the office, fleas are highly contagious. ( as you may have discovered! ) But at her age group, I would recommend one that is not so strong as to a very strong one meant for older dogs. But being 4 months, I would expect that she would be ready for most medications. :) Hope I helped~!

Try frontline from your vet. Apply once a month just make sure you apply 2 days before and 2 after bathing. After that she can get baths and it won't wash off. I love frontline.

You can also try Capstar from your vet. It is a tablet you give your dog and in 30 min they die bad thing it last only 24 hours.
Treat the bedding and lyour living area to destroy them. Good luck fleas can sometimes be tough to get rid of.

Yeah i agree that frontline is the best. Make sure you ask your vet for some. As for cleaning the fleas... they like to live in your carpet. run a rug machine over every carpet in your house, then vaccum. the the fleas get out of hand (which they probably won't) you might have to get a rug replacement. good luck with your pupppy.

Frontline isn't that great. Advantix is much better. And even better than that is avoiding chemicals all together. There are already way too many chemicals in our pets lives.

I suggest you try Flea Treats. They are natural, and better for your dog, and dogs love them. www.fleatreat.com (not affiliated in anyway, just a sincerely devoted fan, my friend introduced me to them, neither of us, or our dogs have a flea problem)

so i take it no one told you, that your not supposed to take your puppy out until they have had all of their shots? lol. For this very reason. oh well stuff happens can't change the past. I would go thru and wash all your clothes, bleach, yes bleach everything that she touches, sleeps on, eats out of. EVERYTHING needs to be bleached. I would do a flea bath and go back to Petsmart by yourself and see what they reccommend for flea protection.

A safe, effective and cheap method of getting rid of fleas is to use a mixture of boric acid and salt. The powder should be sprayed on carpets, bedding and areas frequented by pets.
