"Do you think war is ok..." Compared to what? Every single year 40,000 - 50,000 people, men, women, children, die on America's highways. That far exceeds ALL those killed in all our wars from the first battle with the Indians (Native Americans) until today. There are far fewer killed in war than are killed by murderers, rapists, burglars, robbers, etc. There are far fewer killed in war than are killed by doctor/nurse/pharmacists neglect/carelessness/mistakes.
Of the more than 6.7 billion people currently residing on Planet Earth, more than a third are starving; more than a third do not have good drinking water. More than half do not have a subsistance living.
60 years ago, people in Bengladesh were starving to death by the millions; if you listen to the news, they are still starving to death by the millions. And last week they were hit by a major storm, killing more than 1,700 more of them.
When I came back from Korea in 1965, the sign told us, as we were leaving base, "You are now entering the most dangerous place on Earth...The American highway." You are far safer in Iraq or Afghanistan than on the American highway.
I am an individualist; I don't understand why people are so antagonistic. I do know that the earth is seriously overpopulated; there is pollution everywhere, including the South Pole. Water, air, soil are all polluted; there is water shortages, food shortages, housing shortages right here in the U.S. We have it the best of all the world's people: why else would there be 11,000,000 Illegals in our country, sending more than $30,000,000,000 annually back home?
My opinion: war is the most humane way to solve problems. Just read "1984" by George Orwell and similar books.

Yes of course,

War is an extension of diplomacy, the last extension in that.

Sometimes the only way to achieve peace is through war (kinda weird I know), but is a fact.

For US history here are questions.

If we had not fought the revolution, would we have ever gained our Independence, if so when. Would we have the principles today if we had not fought?

Would the question of slavery been solved when it was?

Would Japan and Germany have stopped at Europe and the Western Pacific in the conquests?

Now we will never know the true answers, and anyone can have an opinion exactly to what would have happened, but we will never know. But we do know this, after these conflicts there were times of turmoil with the defeated (War of 1812, re-admittance of the south, and significant problems in Germany and Japan like the Iron Curtain, Russian occupation of Jap islands, and the Chinese Civil War that we botched on). But in the end, we had and still do have peace with those we beat, and some are our closest allies today. Could this be the case if we had not fought? Who knows?

Now this is not an absolute, we still are at odds with some, N Korea, Vietnam. But in the end at times war is necessary to get to the LASTING peace.

Not only o.k., but absolutely necessary from time to time. As an agent of social and political change, nothing is more proven. W/out WW1, no League of Nations. W/out WW2, no U.N. (Wouldn't be a bad thing, no U.N., but I digress.) Without the Vietnam war, the social upheavals of the late 60's, including civil rights, would not have been nearly as sweeping. All that aside, sometimes mad dogs simply need to be put down. The kaiser in WW1, Hitler in WW2, the Chinese in Korea and 'Nam. And now we have/had Hussein and Bin Laden. Wasn't it Jefferson who said: "The tree of freedom must occasionally be refreshed by the blood of patriots." Pretty sure it was him, anyway.

it's something that will always be a part of the way the world works. Just like things need to die in order for other things to eat and survive (ok, not the same....but you get it, right?)

i don't feel we NEED war, but we have yet to come up with an alternate solution to solving our differences

you're courageous dippin into this section with this question... i will supply you my opinion for what this is worth. i'm a Catholic, my mom taught for 40 5 yrs in Catholic college and is a Eucharistic Minister, no longer that any of that makes me any style of expert...I in basic terms have an opinion on it is all. Jesus suffered on the flow, in basic terms like all different human might, he experienced discomfort, the two bodily and emotionally, like a guy. He knew the consequence substitute into returning to Heaven together with his father, yet he substitute into human to boot. His Father wanted it that way because of the fact he wanted Jesus to adventure the present of "unfastened will". It substitute into finally Jesus' option to evangelise and carry out miracles and unfold God's be conscious and finally make the sacrifice of permitting himself to be put in the placement of being crucified...He did no longer run and conceal. i think of it is the main suitable lesson, in case you have faith, that even nevertheless we go through often times and existence isn't constantly straightforward, in case you do the suited ingredient, the suited ingredient will, interior the tip happen..which for Christians is heaven, while we die. We might desire to even see some rewards right here in this Earth, yet after loss of life is as quickly as we can incredibly adventure existence....

War will always be a part of life. But anyone who thinks wars are "OK", has obviously never fought in one or lost someone in one. Violence is not a necessary condition for human existence, like eating, breathing, sex, etc...Just my 2 cents worth

No. It's a necessary evil. My Grandpa served in WWI. My Dad served in Korea during the war, many of my Uncles served in Vietnam, some of my cousins served in Desert Storm, my nephew is currently in Iraq on his second tour and one of my sons is on readiness to deploy to the war for the Army. I AM THANKFUL TO ALL OF THEM AND ALL OF THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE SERVED OR ARE CURRENTLY SERVING, WHETHER IN WARTIME OR PEACE!

War is man's ultimate insanity

I volunteered for combat twice. I still carry the scars outside and inside........

BUT to have peace......to have freedom....... to have the American dream...... evil must be confronted and beaten.

Any man who says war is "ok" or that he likes it.......has never been there

I was in Saigon when I met an old friend....He asked me where I was stationed.....I told him I was in the "Iron Triangle"...."Hobo Woods" area.....He gushed and said that is where he should be ....out where the "action" is..... He said serving in Saigon was like serving stateside.... play tennis.....go to the club.....boring.....!!
I told him to hop in the jeep and took him to Ton Son Nut AFB.....to the mortuary......I dragged his ignorant a** between the dead bodies stacked like cord wood.....made him watch as they embalmed the dead....while he was losing his breakfast over the jeep fender.....I told him anytime he wanted my f**kin' job he was welcome to it.....war is GREAT in movies but it ain't worth a sh*t in real life.

You do you duty.....but you do not have to like it

The war in the Middle East was started from a lie. Two wrongs don't make it right. I know a lot of people who have loved ones deployed and I support them. I pray they come home with their minds and their bodies in tact.
This is a no win war. Bush has made no friends around the world. We'll be standing alone as all the other country's pull their troops.
I have yet to hear a soldier say they are against going. Bush is their commander in chief. Soldiers are always loyal to their country.
