we are thinking about getting a chocolate lab in a couple of months!!!!! ARe they good dogs?

Yes, Labradors are good dogs but keep in mind your lifestyle. Labradors are active dogs and they need someone who will be willing to take them on walks everyday, train them, play with them and give them lots of love.
First, I think you should know that there and two types of Labrador Retrievers. The English Bred Labrador and the American Bred Labrador. I have an American bred and these types tend to be very energetic and athletic even into old age. Whereas, English breds are a little more laid back but still quite active dogs. Their appearance is quite different as well. The American Labrador are a little taller and lighter compared to the English Labrador that is shorter and stockier.
Labradors are very good tempered and aren't agressive.
They love to interact with their family and people so this means they deserve lots of affection and attention from you.

They are very good dogs! I have a yellow lab and a chocolate lab. The most lovable, protective, friendly dogs you will find. One thing to take into consideration is that labs love being around people, so if you want a backyard dog you will find they become escape artists. They are very active, they do shed quite a bit, and make sure you loose leash train them asap because they are a bigger bread. Labs have a love for water so being close to a lake or pool may help wear them out. I recommend them if you have kids..just keep them active they will find trouble if you don't.

Labs are great dogs!! They are very good with kids and other dogs. However they are very energetic, they need lots of exercise. They love to play fetch or anything else you want to play. Most love the water. Good Luck!!

Yeah, Labs are one of the most popular dog breeds because:
they don't mind water...usually
they are friendly, usually, depends on how you raise them
they don't get very big
they are playful
they can settle down

Labs are great dogs! So lovable and friendly. They love to get into things and eat.
I have a lab mix named Duke he is so sweet and adorable.
