Okay the automatic tranny went out in my jeep. We replaced it. But now we have a hum and a light vibration at any speed 30 mph+. Could it be torque converter? If so maybe someone could explain what we did wrong LOL.

Yes we made sure that the drive shaft was in the same position. The torque converter was filled before install and the mount was checked, too. Thanks KP & Bid Deal for responding!

Used the right fluid, either ATF+3/7176 or ATF+4/9602...can't use straight Dexron/Mercon fluid. Just another thought.

Ok, the easy things have been addressed, now let's try the odd ball.
Look at the shifter linkage to the automatic. Has the nylon bushing come out and now transmitting normal sounds up. You might be able to feel this in the shifter.
Next, you did not say whether you have Four Wheel drive or not. You have similar linkage there to the transfer case. Make sure the linkage is not touching the body and the tranny is centered.
I would check the ujoints anyway. Easy way first. Transmission in park. Jeep level. Emergency brake off. Touch the joints at the cross and rock, GENTLY the jeep back and forth, There should be no movement in the joint. No, this will not mash your fingers.
If these joints have over,,say 50,000 miles, I would pull them apart and look for ANY roughness on the cross's.
Good Luck

Did you prefill up your torque converter prior to the install? Sometimes this will happen if you did not replace the rubber transmision mounts as well. Recheck your transmission fluid. Also replacing the u joints can help.

It could also be your drive shaft, you should always mark the way your drive shaft came off originally and use the old yolk if possible. That will insure it is balanced correctly.
