First of all have they nursed at all? If they are 24 hours old and have not nursed at all then you need to get the pups and the mother to a vet asap. They may have tried to nurse and mom may not have produced milk yet. A mother and her pups should always be taken to a vet no more than 72 hours after birth and the sooner the better, just to be on the safe side. I would get the vet on the phone now as it is crucial the first few days that pups nurse from their mother they get their heat from her aswell. Were the pups premature? This could also be a cause but would need more info. Please call your vet ASAP. I hope they are all well.

Then tube them. You did learn how to do that, right? @Jane - seriously? They're a DAY old and he's already complaining about the time it's taking. Yes, it's close to impossible for 1 person to hand rear a litter from that age even with a litter of only 6. An experienced person could tube them and stimulate them in under an hour, but no way bottle feeding them. Considering they need to be fed every 2 hours, how many weeks do you think he can go without sleep? And if you have hand raised so many different animals from birth, why is it that you've never had to stimulate a single one, especially when formula is so constipating? Maybe you can let the rest of us know how it's done

You need to get both the mother and the puppies to a vet asap! If you don't you could end up losing the whole litter and the mom as well. If for some reason the mother isn't producing milk you may have to hand feed them around the clock. They should be fed about every 2 hours in the beginning. The vet or one of his techs can show you how to do this as well. Good luck to you and I hope all will be okay with your puppies and their Mom.

If they wont nurse, and the mother wont nurse them/allow them to nurse, you can try to get a bottle & milk from a pet store and feed them yourself. If the mother wont nurse them, i would take her in to the vet and see if she might be ill, do you know if she gave birth to all the puppies? If you take the mom in, bring the puppies as well. If it is her first litter, try sitting with her and petting her, and the puppies should want to eat and try to find a nipple.

Have you checked to see if the mother is producing milk? Don't wait a few days, the pups will be dead by then, go too your vet. Take moma and the pups. If moma can't nurse them you will need to buy puppy formula from a pet supply store and hand feed them.

The pups and mom need ot see a vet immediately.
If the pups haven't eaten for a day they are probably dehydrated. Pups eat every 2 hours. They need to be bottle fed or tube fed. Please don't waste anymore time and get them to teh vets NOW even if it means emergency vet. they may not make another day,or even the night

It may be difficult to accept, but this just may be natural selection taking its course- the principal of "only the strong survive". Just the same, they may just eat once they get hungry enough. Watch the mother. See if she tries to push them away or reject them. Maybe you could try an eye dropper. I think I saw that on Animal Planet once.

Is the mother allowing them to try to nurse? If she is, I'd suggest taking them to your vet to make sure they do not have problems such a a cleft palate.
