It has a bad alternator. It also could be a solenoid. Even if the battery is bad it should run off of the alternator

Go to the local Sears store. For $15 they will test the entire electrical system and tell you whats wrong. Sounds like you have a dead cell in the battery.
A new battery should fix the problem, but the check is a good idea to make sure the alternator and other items are working properly. Do not use any battery but a Die Hard or an Interstate.

First check your batteries water level. Beware there is acid in the cells. If you have a dead cell in the battery it will not take a charge. It will take a small amount of battery volts to keep your car running. Since your car is running while connected with the jumper cables from an obvious good battery it looks like that would be the ideal area to start.

it sounds like the battery is dead but even with a dead battery the alternator should kick in and keep it running after jump starting it so I would venture to say that your alternator is bad also

your battery when ya jump start it allows it to start but when ya disconnect it it dies because the batt cannot keep enough charge to keep it running because the alternator is junk...replace alt.an then jumpstart it an let it run for a lil bit then it should start again on its own if it dont the battery is also junk because its been run dead to many times an burnt the cells outta the battery...

Most likely the alternator is not putting out enough current to keep the car running, good luck.

you need to get a new battery but check the connection of the battery of the car because sometimes its just dirty or there is something wedged in there. Also check and see if your spark plugs are clean.
