I am a Christian Pastor, writer and Evangelist.
I have NEVER taken one red cent from any Church I preached.
I have a full time job that supports my wife and I.
I refuse to be a burden to the Body of Christ.
And just in case your not sure it is wrong and I , as a member would either put a stop to it or I would find another Church.

I think alot factors into it. Location is a major one. In NYC, well 50,000 isnt anything; in Oklahoma it is a decent living. Are the pastors full or part time? If there are two in a small congregation, then one is an associate pastor and is most likely part time and should not make as much as the head pastor who usually is full time. Family size would be another factor, and does the church already pay rent or let the pastor live on the property? I am very much against lavish living for pastors in general; though 50,000 just doesnt seem like a lavish lifestyle considering the pastor most likely has a family he is supporting as well as himself. Just my take on it.

That is a bit odd. Course $50,000 a year is NOT much in this day and age.
Why would a SMALL church need TWO pastors making so much money?
Certainly a Senior Pastor should make the most, but the other Pastor is obviously an asst. and should not get the same salary...
IMHO!

Well being that I've been on finance boards and budget committees for churches of that size, it doesn't seem that you can support two pastors at that size. I guess it would depend on the state of your mortgage, but it seems like you could only support one minister.

As long as their congregation doesn't care about where their money goes, and don't mind tithing 10% or more of their wages to support their pastors lifestyle.
Then why not....?

According to the Bible, no. Matthew 10:8 Jesus said after telling them of the powers they would have, he told them how much to charge. "You received free, give free."
These people are not to interested in the Bible's view of things apparently. They are more interested in fulfilling 2Timothy 4:3 in "accumulating teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled."

That does seem a bit much, didn't they have any operating expenses? Insurance costs, pension and workman's comp? Do they not support missions?
Sounds odd.

The only real answer to that question can come from that congregation.
Is it acceptable for people on foodstamps to purchase christmas presents on credit cards?
