If it was holy for them, there wouldn't be Christianity. All christians would be Jews then.

The old Testament is superseded by the new. The 10 commandments were replaced with the two commandments in the New Testament.

Many Christians who haven't read the actual words of Jesus in the New Testament still attempt to follow the old.

Yes, the old testament is holy and we are still commanded to follow the 10 commandments.

The two Commandments that Jesus stated - you shall love your God with all of your heart mind and strength and your neighbor as yourself are also from teh Old Testament.

You will still hear readings from the Old testament at Mass.

Thats a tricky one. For the most part yes. We study it, learn from it, and more or less follow the rules. But the new testament is the old testment revised. Jews do not believe that Jesus was the mesiah, therefore do not buy into the old testamament. There are some christian sects that do not follow new testamment law. But for the most part, thats what christians are expected to live by.

As for the 10 comandments, yes they are important to christians. They are Gods laws. And they are mentioned in the new testamament, and therefore we are to follow them.

The 10 comadments are also what most US laws are based on. I know atheists will try and say the bible is wrong, or just a story, but its what most people live by, whether they think it is from that, or their own common sense.

Yes, old and new testaments are the holy word of God.
Jesus quoted from the old testament.
Hundreds of prophecies are in the old testament.
The old testament tells of creation and important genealogies.
Yes, the 10 commandments tell us of our guilt and how we cannot obey them without the power of God in us. They are God's law.
We need both testaments to know God, know ourselves and understand what life is all about.

Dear Daglas,

The entire Bible is the word of God and therefore, important.

The Old Testament gives us incredible inforamtion about the time we are presently livng in....the Great Tribulation. In particular, the book of Jeremiah, Isaiah, Joel, Obediah, etc. speaks of our time.

Before I answer your question directly; please clarify something for me.
Which old testament is the above question presently asking about?; (a) the law of Moses (b) Genesis-Malachi 46 books, or (c) Genesis-Malachi 39 books).

* The law of Moses is referred to in scripture as the old testament 2 Cor. 3:13-14 KJV (or NKJV). Genesis is not law of Moses as Moses was not born yet!!!

definitely so!! it is the Word of God plain and simple and was written to teach us, and show us God's struggle with mankind
and ours with Him. it was also written to warn us through the examples of others who set their hearts on other things. and the 10 commandments are still upheld in Christianity and are now combined with faith. having the heart of God in it.

Of course its important.

if you read the New Testament, it refers back to the Old Testament many many times.

It is written for our example, & also, the things God hated & that God loved, havent changed.....................

Now that's something to think about............
