I am not sure what normal is because I have never met anyone who was completely normal in all aspects. I have had thoughts like yours from the time I was about 5 years old. I am now 32. These thoughts are called suicide ideation. You should talk to your therapist or whoever prescribed the antidepressants. Be careful how you word it though because they will put you in a hospital if they feel you are suicidal. But be honest. I think for me this kind of thinking is kind of like a fantasy. It is a way out that I wouldn't have to deal with life anymore. So it is my little escape. This is not to say that I have never been suicidal. I do not know how "normal" it is but I do know if you start talking about it people really freak out. There are many meds out there to try. Some work better than others for different people.

Grow up! if it is that bad get a psychiatrist. Try smiling, even if your not happy, it releases endorphins into your body which makes you happier, if your angry don't take it out on others find a hobby, take up painting, or an instrument. Talk to your family and friends, fins someone to confide in. Suicide is a cowards way out of life, don't think if the negatives, think of the things you would miss and the people you love. This is just a phase. Everyone has them. I hope you find balance in your life and I hope I have helped. P.S if there are deeper problems which saying on yahoo would be bad, I suggest telling your parents how your feeling. sometime just talking helps, but bottling up can have adverse and severe consequences so external help may be needed.

To answer the last part of your question, Ella, you are NOT alone. Many people think about suicide in an intellectual way. Notice that I said think ABOUT it, not plan to actually do it. It can be quite therapeutic.
Listen closely to the people who care about you, and the people that you care about. (I know, they are not always the same people).
Find someone that you trust, and share your thoughts.
Also, "normal" and "abnormal" are very subjective terms. What is normal today may have been abnormal in the past, and what is abnormal today may become the norm in the future. Once most people start doing the same thing, or thinking the same thoughts, it becomes "normal".

no i havnt but if i were u i would go see some help... not joking either. i dont know you but so many people miss out on things because they commit suicide! on a rate between 1-10 if it is abnormal with 10 being the most abnormal i would say about 8 1/2 to a 9. it's not healthy at all to be thinking about suicide. it will bring down your self esteem by alot. try to think happy things about yourself and other people. what i am saying is try to bring up your self esteem. i hope i have helped.

I personally think that's right next to actually committing suicide. I've thought about it probably twice in my whole life, and that could even be considered abnormal.

Did you just start taking the meds? You might need to give it a little time. If you're still getting these thoughts, you need to talk to your doctor as soon as possible about getting the medication adjusted or trying something different.

Good luck.

I thought of it a lot. I doubt you will ever do it just cause if you wanted to do it. It would already have been done. People that commit suicide never second guessed. Your not exactly thinking about suicided your just wonder what will happen if you die. You think like that is probably because you feel nobody notices you. I guess what you really want is a cry for attention.

Have you talked to your doctor about these feelings? You really need to, as they are not only abnormal, but very dangerous thoughts, and some anti-depression meds can actually CAUSE tendency toward suicide as a side effect, so this is something he really needs to know about.

It is not healthy to think about suicide. The more we think about something the more it becomes okay. You admit you are depressed. You should be seeing a counselor. Meds alone are not always sufficient. Let your doctor know how you are feeling, In the meantime, spend time helping others and being around things that are life affirming such as young children or nature.

I have been just like that and it scared the hell out of me.
I felt that it would be the best thing I could ever do.
Please see your doctor, it sounds like you need a change in your prescription.
Be careful how you describe your symptoms too.
I made the mistake of telling my new psychiatrist that I saw myself blowing my head off so he freaked out. He made my wife take my guns out of the house, but he never asked if I had any bullets. I didn't, but he never asked.

instead of feeding it, and thinking about how u r gonna do it, when and all that, think about all the things u will miss if u do it, try to think about positive things, i know it is easy to say for me, but not really, i was like that, and i would feed it by listening to sad music, being sad and not wanting to get out of it, until i did simple things, like well, for me OLDIES, happy music just got me out and it became like a way out just listening to happiness and see there is something else, then just pamper yourself, maybe, change your hair, or just go out for a walk at the park, and look at the beautiful world around u!, think that if u do it, all that will be gone, FOR U!, yes life can be a pain, but it also has it's good moments, your life is precious don't take it away, i am gonna get all religious now, but God put u here for a reason and he loves u!, i bet good things are about to come, it is not in the medicine the solution it is in YOU! hope this helps!
