There are no positive consequences of war. How can anyone put a price on the life of another human being. It is beyond comprehension that anyone could say that anything good comes from war. Go and visit the first/second world war cemeteries in France, Belgium etc. Stand in them take a look around you and ask yourself the very same question you have asked tonight, then you will understand the nature of this answer.

If you invest in weapons, metals, armament, technology that is used in war, or almost anything that is made more scarce by war, then you may come out much more wealthy. Depends of course on the individual company and its stock.

War is contrary to popular belief not good for population control, not really. The result of the many people having sex because of stress relief and to relieve loneliness, and the military coming home and then having more sex and babies, that much more counter-effects the "birth control" factor.

There are in general very few positive consequences.

One temporary consequence is that certain animal and plant populations increase either because there are not enough human predators, or because the life form thrives on a factor increased by the war, such as dead bodies.

The consequences of wars are varied and depend on why and where a war is fought. The arguments for positive developments during post war rebuilding and amalgamation of peoples and ideals can be viewed as either great advancements for modern civilization or as a horrible consequence to the established way of life.

One thing that defiantly results from war is advancement of technology and innovation both in technologies and concepts or new found efficiencies.

This can be traced back to the earliest conflicts. Man as a species has evolved from stone age to bronze age to iron age due to conflict and competition for survival and to hold on to a home that he has built . "Out of necessity comes genius."

You can trace new ideas and concepts such as currency or money coming about from conquests and a necessity for it. The Roman Empire with a republic governance system, this and many more ideals are as a result of wars and a need to survive. New trade routes and diversification of peoples and ideas spreading back and forth can be attributed to conflicts. Religion and morals spreading and changing culture making an area one ideology bring nationalities. Tribes and peoples being put together forming one country. Etc

For instance would the United States exist today if there had not been a conflict with the British Empire and feudalism? As a result a governing system of democracy prevailed in the world. There are also tremendous advantages from war for instance out of WW2 jet engines, rockets, hi-ways, vessel's, nuclear energy better manufacturing methods and most importantly medicine, namely modern surgery.

As devastating as a war can be there are long term impacts to society that may show signs of advancement in later years although if you are a part of the suffering you would probably not be able to see the benefits in your life time or even understand why or how it would be important.

In a broader perspective looking at it from a far, war can be viewed as like a forest fire where the devastation that it causes is immense, but necessary for new growth and to make way for new life to have a chance. Although the real reasons for war are basically due to greed, ignorance, intolerance, power and ambitions. The results of it like I said before can be argued depending on your perspective of modern civilization and its consequences to our planet.

If you were religious you could also view it as just a part in the scheme to achieve Armageddon and the final judgment or some other conformation of a dogma or prophecy. That I do not really know about.

Either way from a human perspective there are benefits but do they out way the suffering and loss involved, that is up to debate. Let us hope that we are not first hand participents having to weigh the benifits of war when rebuilding.

You seem to be reasonably intelligent.....

"Are there some positive consequences of war?"

Lets ask every American what they think of the consequences of the Revolutionary War?......Or every black person about the consequences of the Civil War?......Or the relatives of the Jews who were rescued from the ovens by the consequences of World War II?

There are just as many positive consequences of war......as there are negative consequences.....

Civilization is the result of wars.
The constant progression of society is a result of war.
Short term strengthened economy.

Other than that war is hell on earth. People die and it would be better if people just argued it out, like playing 360.

I can see it now President vs North Korean Dictator next week on xbox live call of duty 4 battle to decide the future of a nation, bc when it comes down to it an arguement is an arguement. A solution is a solution and all the bs that happens in the middle... destructive

It helps keep population growth down. It gives the undertaker more business - and the trauma surgeon. It allows munitions manufacturers to sell more of their wares. However, the only REAL positive thing about war is that it accelerates the advancement of technology - a perfect example is WWII, which started without jets, military rockets as weapons, and the atomic bomb. The fastest propeller driven airplanes ever made, the P51 Mustangs, were made. Radar was improved, computers were improved. Medicine was improved. The only other thing that I can think of might be that it gets rid of the bad guys - Hitler deserved to be whacked - he was total schmuck.
