I'd find a therapist, counselor or psychologist to help me find a way to cope. because what's the alternative? Suicide? No thanks. HIV isn't a death sentence anymore.

Seek medical help - there are some new drugs that can prolong life for quite a long time - not yet a cure, but some people infected with HIV in the US and Europe are living into old age, dying of other things like heart attacks and the other stuff that eventually gets everyone anyway.

I discovered I am HIV+ in 2001
It's very scary at first but after a while you come to terms with it and the meds will ensure I will survive.
HIV will not shorten my life due to the progress being made re meds and research
It's like everything else: you surprise yourself with how strong you can be - but you have to walk through the fear, initially.
People being diagnosed today are considered to be no more at risk than someone with a chronic condition such as diabetes (in the 'developed' world)

The HIV infection is no longer the automatic death sentence that it used to be. The combination therapy has been shown to be effective. Having HIV is not good, but its no longer considered automatically fatal. It might shorten your life somewhat, but so does drinking too much booze, smoking, and driving too fast, among other things.

I have AIDS and can handle it why? GOD!!! you have to believe that it isn't going to run your life you are going to run it. And i am i have had it since 1997 and i have only been sick with PCP once. So i think everyone could handle it. That's just me. what can i say it is a part of me and there is nothing i nor any one can do about it. i take meds to make it less of a problem it's like taken Tylenol each day. no biggie!!!

Man having HIV would be tough, but I would try to stay healthy by taking my medicine and eating right.

I'm hoping this is hypothetical, because I'm not so sure that Y!Answers is the right place to get an answer you would need.
My suggestion would be to join a group of similar people, and share experiences and help.
If I had it and couldn't cope, my answer would be very negative.

This is a tough one, I don't know if I could have the will to deal with HIV, I don't know what I would do.

I think you realise that you OCD is making you worry too much. Please try not worry about these things, you cannot get HIV from a doorhandle and your nurse will be very hygienic. i think perhaps it would be a good idea to have a chat with your nurse about your OCD so she can put your fears at rest!
