In our Christian walk with the Lord, there are mountain tops and valleys. When we're on top of the mountain we have no problem praising Him because we are so filled with His peace and joy. At other times we are in the valley, where nothing seems to go right for us, no matter how hard we try. Although it's difficult to praise Him and thank Him for blessings when we are in the valley, we need to, because that's when He gives us the strength to climb back up to the top of the mountain.
Jesus said He would never forsake us, that He would be with us forever. Trust in Him to give you strength to climb back up to the mountain top. And, when you get back up there, thank Him for helping you. I will be praying for you, believing that He will help you overcome whatever you're facing in your valley right now. God bless you!!!
Lovingly,
Virginia

I have been where you are right now, and it's only conviction, which is a good thing. if you were not convicted of your lack of relationship with God, I would be worried. But the fact that you are convicted means that the Holy Spirit is still very much involved in your heart and is trying to get you to seek Him more earnestly than ever before, we cannot be simply satisfied with the sunday worship service and think that we can continue the rest of the week with just eating once a week, the spirit man will grow weaker, and pretty soon, your intimacy with the Lord will wane. Here's your opportunity for reviving yourself in Him, put on some praise and worship music at home, beging to give Him the praise, Glory, and Honor that He alone deserves, sing, dance, shout, and give Him thanks, and you will see that you cannot do all these things and be depressed at the same time, He will come in and let you know that you still belong to Him. Remember, the devil is a liar. So put on your praise, and let the anointing fall where it will.

Depression is a clinical problem that needs professional help - it can affect your relationship with the Lord. I have been there, done that !!! Get a good doctor to give you some medication.....and when you get stabilized, everything will come more into focus. Depression is an illness, and modern medications are wonderful to break the awful cycle of torment. Get medical help, my friend, and continue to trust the Lord. The Scripture I recommend is the 91st Psalm. Read it over and over, and commit it to memory. This is the very best thing you can ever do for yourself. Best wishes, and God's richest blessings be yours !

I suggest that you talk to your clergy man/woman about it. If you do not have a clergy person to talk to; you may want to consider going on a retreat or signing up for spiritual counseling.
If you have tried these things and you still feel depressed, perhaps your depression is not spiritual but clinical in nature. Make an appointment with a psychiatrist who can diagnose and treat this problem.
Good luck and I hope your issues get resolved!
EDIT: Your additional details sound like the classic symptoms of clinical depression. I suggest that you make an appointment with a pyschiatrist as soon as possible. Depression is a serious medical problem that causes serious pain. I have suffered from depression in the past; and I thank God that I live in a time when Prozac is available. Prayer and worship alone cannot cure clinical depression any more than they can fix a broken leg. If you want to pray as well and you find it helpful, then go ahead; but it should be done IN ADDITION to medical treatment and not instead of!

Yes thank Allah for whatever situation you find yourself. Sometimes these type of situation happen to human beings. This is so just to make you or remind you that you are just a human being and nothing more, so this will call you to order and remind you of the existence of the supreme being the most high. So as you suggest, fasting does a lot in such situation. Again after each of the five daily prayers recite the following suras three time each (sura Al ikhlas, Sura Alfalaq, and Sura Annas.

Likely Depression.
For many people their religion is a great comfort to them. Often speaking to someone else about how you feel will help a lot.
Using a trained counselor like a psychologist may help. There are many psychologists that do it from a faith based perspective (e.g. Christianity) if that is important to you.
We've all been there. Sometimes it is triggered by clear events (death, breakup). Other times it is something fundamental that you can't identify and at these times it is very important you seek counseling as that is the only way to get treatment for "clinical depression".
Also - do you often have "highs" where you feel everything is right with the world and feel very good? If so you may not be "depressed" but rather "bipolar". It is very important you seek treatment and be sure they rule that out. Often "bipolar disorder" is misdiagnosed as "depression" simply because you only seek help when you're in the depressive phase.

This is depression. Seek help. Preferably from a christian. There are christian psychologists and psychiatrists available in most places. You could start by speaking to someone from your church, a Minister, the minister's wife, your growth group(bible study) leader, an elder.
KNOW that no matter how far away you feel God is, He is still with you. Feeling alone is one of the affects of depression BUT GOD IS WITH YOU REGARDLESS.

From a psychological point of view, I don't think your depression is caused by a poor 'relationship' with God. Many people go through phases of depression during their lives, not only christians but also atheists, buddhists, hindus, pretty much anyone. In fact, if anything, I think it's a bad idea to rely on your religion to get you through depression. I mean, if relying on your religion works, then why did you ever become depressed in the first place if you were already religious? Considering that God doesn't actually exist to help you, I think if you rely on religion, you stand a chance of getting stuck in a loop where you assure yourself God will help you and go on getting even more depressed. No, I think it's much better to be proactive in such a situation, to take command of your own emotions. I'm sure there are lots of people you can talk to who know how to get people through phases of depression.

Skyline, it sounds as though you are going through some depression. It is pretty normal, around the Holidays.
I am most sorry to hear, your relationship with God has fallen away, lately. If you do not mind, I am going to pray that you restrengthen your relationship with God. Cry out to Him in prayer and let Him know your sorrows and hardships. I pray that you will find the joy of your salvation and He will free you from the depression!
I'm not against seeing psychiatrist for depression as they can help greatly! If you do go, I do suggest going to a Christian psychiatrist. This will put you both on the same level, as far as your mutual love for God!
God bless you and may He set you free from this and replenish your heart with His love!
Blessings, Gail

My Dear, God tells us in His Word To Draw Nigh to Him, and He will draw nigh to Us. You may Feel as if You Have Cooled off toward Him, But that Happens When we get Spiritually Hungry. We get very weak., Spiritually. But God Understands. > He tells us That He KNOWS OUR FLESH IS WEAK, When our Spirit is Willing. But there are things We Can Do and GOD will restore Our Soul. He knows When we are "LOW IN Spirit" and He wants Us to cry Out to Him to Lift us Up. He wants us to LEAN on Him, More. WE need to get alone with Him, And Pour Our Hearts Out to Him. ASK HIM To bring you out of that Valley, And put You on a Mountain Top!! HE TELLS US " We Have not, because we ASK not". He will Bring you Out of that depression, and fill your Heart with Joy, If you will ASK, and Trust. I will pray for you, If you would Like. God says: When 2 People Pray about the same thing, IT SHALL BE DONE! Matt I8:I9 O.K? Bless you Dear.
