In this situation the masks also helped to hide the identity of the S.A.S. troopers from the worlds press.
They do not run around the battlegrounds of Iraq, and Afghanistan wearing gas masks.

Unfortunately the answer is yes. The British government has had to install a number of budgetary cuts since losing the Balkans war in 1989, so SAS soldiers are only feed a mix of high protein bake beans. Hence the need for gas masks. When they are on operations in Australia Transport is a grey kangaroo.

I'm fairly certain he is making a reference to the computer game counter-strike.The SAS player model is wearing a gas mask.Therefore the only logical answer is that they wear it all the time in real life.
