Her left leg is definately broke, the vet is closed until tomorrow morning. She's probably going to need pins in her leg and I was just wondering about how much it would cost??? We live in the country and she's an outside dog, but for now she's in a heated shed with plenty of food and water available to her. We live in MN so the winter's get pretty cold. Can anyone help me with what I should do for her until tomorrow and tell me the price of how much the pins will cost???

I just called 4 vets, 2 of them I got ahold of. The 2 that I talked to said they don't do internal fixations, and I have to bring her to another vet. Neither of them said that I had to bring her in NOW, I will wait til morning, then they don't have to leave their families to come take xrays. She was up, hopping around on 3 legs about 1/2 hour ago. She's going to the bathroom and eating.
As for where I was when she got hit, in bed...sleeping. It was 4 in the morning. I really don't remember asking anyone to bash my skills as a pet owner. I wanted to know how much it was going to cost me, that's it. For those of you who say don't worry about the money, I also have 5 kids to feed, so I DO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT THE MONEY. The pet ins. isn't free, it's another $20 every month that I can't afford.

I hate to tell you this, but you are probably looking at $1000 easy.
They can't just put in pins, they are going to have to take x-rays to see what kind of break it is and if they can set it back or if it's going to be a matter of bandaging it up and then changing the bandage over time so that it can heal. And bandage changes every few days will be costly as well.
So, not only are you looking at the work itself to set the break, but you are looking at costly after care as well. not only that, but your dog will have to become an inside dog for a few months and be kept still so that the leg can heal.
As for what you can do while you wait to see the vet, there really isn't anything. Just get your dog to the vet as soon as possible tomorrow.
Good luck.

First of all boxers are only inside dogs. Your dog got ran over and where were you? You need to get the dog into the vet now and don't wait or otherwise they will ask you why and they could accuse you of animal cruelty. It might cost alot and you are responsible for taking care of your dog. That's the price of owning a dog. I am not telling you this to be mean but you its required for the dog owner. Besides I am from MN and there are alot of vets that are working 24/7. Just look in the phone book or look up on the Internet. You could tell the vet that maybe you can make payments or take your dog to the humane society and they might be able to help you out.

You need to get your dog to an emergency vet ASAP. Not only for the fact that her is leg broke but there could be internal damage and bleeding. I'm very well sure that it will be costly but money shouldn't be a worry when it comes to your beloved pet. Get her to a vet immediately. Something like this cannot wait. Good luck...I hope she will be OK.

You should not wait until tomorrow. Call the vet. If he/she won't come in, there is another vet that is on call, or an emergency vet.
Your dog could die from shock, cold or pain overnight.
Please-do not wait. She deserves better than this.
Add: the costs vary significantly from vet to vet. In cities and larger vet practices, it is usually more.

You can't call your vet for an emergency visit? All the vets down here do that, but it usually costs more. I'm not sure how much it costs, but she really should get to a vet ASAP.

My Bulldog was hit by a car earlier this year and had to have hip replacement surgery, that cost about 300-350.00. I know its not quite the same but should give you an idea, for the anesthesia and medications, exam etc..
Mine is an outside dog, but I bought him a dog bed and the entire time he was hurt and healing I kept him inside. You need to keep him inside or at least somewhere comfortable where he wont move around and reinjure himself.

I would find an ER Clinic to take her too, today! She probably not only has a broken leg, which needs to be properly set right away, but also internal injuries you can't see, and I would imagine, she is in a tremendous amount of pain. Don't wait until tomorrow, because if she has internal injuries, tomorrow may be too late. I hope she's ok, poor baby!

Its a shame the dog wasn't insured vet bills are a killer.Don't leave it outside as you cannot monitor it round the clock and get it checked out soon as possible.Around my way there are charitable organisations so you pay donations or a set price do check this out but you can not delay treatment, you wont if it was you.

Get her to the ER vet NOW !!! Worry about how much it costs after. You've got a dog in PAIN -- she can't wait till tomorrow, and neither can you. It's cruelty and neglect to allow a dog with a broken leg to go without medical care.
Get her to the ER vet.
