If you were never given proper service, that judgment may be able to be removed. But it might only be temporarily. What will happen is that you would be given a new court date in order to prove your case. If you lose the judgment would remain on your credit report. The only thing you need to think about is that this may then be considered a new judgment and all of the times start over.
Depending on your state you may be at the end of the Statute of Limitations where they can collect. In some states it is as low as 3 years, in others it can be 20 years but rennewable after a period of time. A judgement can only remain on your credit report for 7 years, or until the Statute of Limitations for your state runs out(which ever is longer). So depending on the state you live in it may be falling off in a year anyways.
The first thing you need to do is find out if you truly given improper service. To do this you need to go to the court and pull the entire suit from 6 years ago. In that will be the proof of service. Then you need to check your state laws and find out if what they did would be considered valid. Just know that in most states they do not have to give it to you personally, as long as they give it to a person who is over 18 and at a place(such as home or work) that you would be at. In other cases they can send it by way of certified mail.

touch the credit reporting organization and document and blunder. they might desire to do an examine, and discover that the document is incorrect IF the leasing organization concurs it grow to be mentioned inaccurately. although, if the leasing organization maintains that it mentioned accurately, whether they now no longer want funds from you, it ought to stay on your document, or you will have it marked as 'in dispute' indefinitely. the 1st step is to touch the credit reporting organization, although, and attempt to remedy it.

no it will not improve your overall score, but if you sell, buy or refinance your house, you will have to pay it off at closing.
