I just find it laughable when posters, like Scourge and friends, come over to spout a bunch of mindless, neurotic drivel with those big $3 words in such a dissenting tone in order to fulfill that need to say what they know to be false but so badly want to be true so they can continue living among the many followers in this world plagued with moral relativism. Any takers?

Good points Mr. B, but you may want to rethink your statistics concerning crime in the UK, Australia...etc. Those places are bleeding crime and misbehaviour. What does the point about the US, being a "Christian" nation, have to do with these criminal acts? Forgiveness is given by God, yes. It is also awarded by our failing judicial system to the droves of malignant tumors we call citizens of this nation. So what's your point?

RT... I never said I didn't like disagreement. I love a good ol' debate anytime. But, to come over to a forum, where many who frequent are Christians discussing Christian things, only to try to crap on their day...that gets on my nerves. That would be like me going into a gay forum only to tell them all that they are an abomination and have only Hell to look forward to. Those guys and gals have all the freedom in the world to have fun exchanging ideas on their aborhent lifestyle. Is my point clear? I guess some could sum it up to plain old trolling.

Yes, Scourge. You are absolutely right. Okay, I'll drop the sarcasm. I was once on the same side of the fence where you find yourself. I whined, moaned and spouted the latest bunch of "philosophical nonsense" that I'd read or picked up at school. I know what it's like to think you have an open mind when it's actually very much closed. Search the shelves of the newest decadent bookstand, or webpage of your choice for truth. You'll find it there, for the truth, in your mind, can and will be whatever you want it to be. Ultimately, though, there is one truth. Sorry for the incoherent ramble all.

dharma- gimme a break. The bible is full of moral examples. Morality is not something earned through experience. Looking for respect maybe?

Dr. K, Sorry about missing that comma. Denying the truth allows us to continue doing exactly what it is that feels good for the moment. Thanks for the writing lesson you foolish hack.

Of all the silly attacks on atheists I've seen, the silliest is the one that atheists "know" they're wrong, but wish to live as if there were no God.
How would that be a successful strategy, exactly? Wouldn't that be like wanting to cross the street as if there were no traffic, and doing it despite the fact you see a bus bearing down on you?
As for "moral relativism", no moral code has proved over time to be more relativistic than has Christian dogma. Otherwise, it couldn't have been used to both support and condemn everything from monarchy to democracy to slavery to segregation to civil rights.

If that mess is a reflection of your actual thought process then you might want to be a little more careful about the answers you read in this context as they may be about the very thing you know everyone is debating in the sense that posers and hypocrites need to make points above and beyond the understanding of misinterpretation and disgust of the fanatical fringe related to making false accusations of giving positive response to the general public. Any takers?

Any takers for what? To explain why atheists post in a religion section?
Everyone will leave the christians alone when the christians leave everyone else alone. But they just cant. Theyve got to try to force their silly beliefs into everything. Why does the money say "In god we trust"? Why does the pledge say "under god"? Why are christians always trying to get their mythology taught as science to our nation's school children? Etc etc..
I dont pester the astrology believers because they keep to themselves. Copy them, and you'll get the same courtesy.

I am not here to argue. I am hear to tell the truth and help stop the spreading of lies and cons that are perpetuated on humanity in the name of non existent gods so that a group of "pious" individuals can garner power and wealth.
I merely attempt to introduce the horse (christian, muslim, jew etc) to the water (truth and reason), I leave the choice to drink up to them.
That is not arguing. That helping my fellow human.
As for $3 words I can't help it if you find literacy intimidating. All I can suggest is that you read more and grow as a person.
(PS.. that is more of that horse meet water thing - Hint Hint)

Nothing new to say here that hasn't been said a thousand times before. All I can really add is the idea that you should look at the "search for questions" bar before posting a tired old question *yet* again.
Oh, and that religious books give laws, not morality. Morality is earned through experience.

You. Need. To. Use. More. Punctuation.
It is very hard to tell what you are trying to say when you come in here and spout off about people not being allowed to have their own opinion on matters that you disagree with when you dont care to or don't know how to use punctcuation and thus the brain that your god according to you endowed you with.
Get it?

Punctuation is your friend. Use it, or in college you'll wind up with a teacher like me who will fail you for not becoming friends with punctuation.
I don't come here to argue. I come here here to answer questions based on my opinion, and I have just as much right to do it as you do. Why wouldn't I?
I love how you Christians think that all Atheists are just fooling themselves, and that they really believe God exists, but pretend that they don't. Why would anyone do that? I really want to know why you think that anyone would purposefully deny eternal salvation through Christ, unless they truly did not believe in it. It doesn't make sense, does it?

We don't. We come to ask honest, rational questions in the hope that one day we'll provoke a believer in an invisible sky god into having an actual logical THOUGHT PROCESS.

The title of the room is "Religion and Spirituality". not "Christian Only". Personally, if you find it that offensive, leave.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If you aren't man enough to handle disagreement perhaps you should go have a coffee at Starbucks and leave the on-line discussions to the mature adults
