I have a swing and a bouncer. My swing vibrates as well as plays music and my bouncer seat just plays music. I'd get the swing first off as you will utilize it more. Your baby won't be able to sit in the bouncer until they can hold their head up, and even then they won't be very interested until about 3 months. Your son will also become pretty disinterested in the swing after awhile. My bouncer has an activity set on it with rattling balls etc, he loves playing with it. Don't listen to your mother, it's your baby, buy what you wish :)

I would say swing all the way !! I had that very swing and it was the best thing I bought. My baby went into it at 1 day old and she would be asleep within minutes and would happily sit in it for ages whilst I got other things done, I really couldnt have imagined life without it !! I also had a boucing seat which I think she sat in twice !!
She grew out of the swing at about 6 months (when she started getting mobile and I sold it on e bay for only £20 less than I paid for it, so def a good investment. Good luck :)

Personally, I would register for both and see which one, if not both, I got at my shower and then purchase the other, but if I had to choose I would go with the bouncer seat. I had both for my baby and the bouncer was great! It really came in handy when I needed to do things around the house and I was home alone. If I needed to bathe I could bring him in the bathroom with me and sit him next to the tub. If I was in the kitchen cooking I could sit him next to me on the counter or the table (never leave the baby unattended if you do this). It was really cumbersome to have to move the swing from room to room while I was doing housework, where I could just pick up the bouncer and go! Good luck to you and your new addition!

I would go for the swing. When the little one gets big enough to support their own weight a little, try a Johnny Jump Up (I think that's what it's called - it's been a log time since my kids were that age). The swing isn't as portable as the bouncer, but it's a little safer a little longer. Make sure you have something to stabilize the head either way.
Don't discount tummy time, though! Find a blanket you can put down on the floor when he/she gets strong enough to lift his/her head and put the baby on the floor on their tummy for awhile every day. It's important for their development. :D

you really dont need either...but it is a personnal chose..I had both, one child preferred to bounce, one to swing and one to be held constantly!!! If moneys tight u might wanna wait til ya know what the child would like best...lay baby on lap and gently bounce..if it falls asleep go for the bouncer. Rock baby on lap and if it goes to sleep then the swing. If whenever u lay the baby down it instantly wakes up( and wont go back to sleep) then you got yourself a holder and ya dont need to buy either...good luck!

I used the seat more than the swing, and for a longer period of time. Personally I could have done without the swing.

thats a tough question....we only registered and received a bouncy seat, but ended up getting a swing when our baby was a month old. both got a lot of use. if you register, register for both. work with whatever you choose-keep in mind, you could get a swing, and 'make' it vibrate by buying a cheap handheld massager and tucking it in around baby with a blanket. just a thought. :)

you can get both.. It just depends on how picky you are and where to find the best deals~I had a baby not to long ago and I got a wonderful swing at a garage sale for only $30 and I got the bouncy chair for a baby gift.. Try to register for both and mabye you'll get them both without paying a penny. I wouldn't say one or the other because my daughter loves them both but.. she has outgrown her swing, and she still uses the chair. good luck and congrats on the little one to be!
