My dog is 7/8. Is it too late to train him? I taught him the basics like sit, lay down, stay and paw but is it too late to train him to wait a curbs and so on?

nope. It will take a little longer, but he'll still learn. Go to www.dogproblems.com for a bunch of training info. In fact, they have a 45 minute movie on teaching this( Boundary training) They also have movies for sit, Down, come, potty training and the boundary training. It also has a huge book and a discussion board to get help on any dog related questions!

Good Luck!

Never too late. Dogs that age are train for the blind or you can get the Good Canine Citizenship Certificate and be a blessing for somebody in the hospital or the elderly. Go to www.akc.org. for more info. When my dog got that age she learned more tricks because she was more mature. Just like people.

It's not too late. Just remember be it may take him a long time to learn new tricks. Try to keep the training him for about 15 min. at a time. That way he will not get bored. Good luck!

All dogs are trainable. Some dogs learn more quickly than others. Yours being an older dog may need a little more time to learn things but he can still learn. Just be very patient and be consistent.

Not too late. Find out what your dog's favorite treat is (try things like cheese and chicken, or hotdogs). Carry a bag with you when you go for a walk. When your dog stops or does what it is you want say, yes! and give him a treat. Soon your dog will be repeating behaviors you have rewarded him for.

you CAN teach a old dog new tricks. you just need to have a lot more patience as fido will not like his routines etc being changed. just spend time with him, and making it fun, and anything is possible,
