1 leave it like it is
2 add baking chololate pieces
3 add the chololate chips (melted)
4 go to the store (which i really dont want to do)

if you have any more ideas or just would like to pick one of mine either way i would love to hear everyones thoughts

What flavor cake do you have? The reason I'm asking is if you have the following ingredients - you'll have your chocolate frosting already. You said you have chocolate chips so you are halfway there.

I received this recipe from a friend and it sounds strange but works absolutely great.

- 1 box cake mix (if you have chocolate - then you'll have your chocolate cake for the bottom - but can do it with another flavor)
- 1 small box Cook & Serve Pudding - a flavor to match the cake - like vanilla or coconut cream for a white/yellow cake mix, chocolate or coconut cream for a chocolate cake
- Milk called for in the pudding
- 1/2 c chocolate chips
- 1/2 c chopped nuts (pecans/walnuts)

Place the cake mix in a bowl - dry. Cook up the pudding by the package directions - MUST USE COOK & SERVE - CAN'T USE INSTANT. As soon as the pudding is done, pour it directly into the dry cake mix. It will start to "grow" - not to worry. Pour into a sprayed cake pan and level it. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top. Sprinkle the nuts over that. Bake in preheated 350º oven for 25-30 minutes or until the toothpick comes out clean (be careful - the chocolate chips might make it look not done when it really is - don't overcook it).

The chocolate chips and nuts are your frosting. It makes a wonderful brownie-like cake. No oil, no water, no eggs, just the pudding. Try it with other flavors - like pistachio pudding or lemon in a yellow cake - anything. Just change your topping depending on your flavor - like Cool Whip with some pistachio instant pudding mixed into the Cool Whip. Some green food coloring and you have your St. Patty's Day cake.

Enjoy!

well u could try to melt the cocolate and let it cool for a bit then mix it with the frosting or another opinion is that u could make ur own frostin
all u need is:
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

Mix together. Bring to a boil and boil for 1 minute. Add vanilla. Cool partially, then beat with a mixer for 3 minutes or until spreadable consistency.

CDKitchen Note: Please read the reviews on this recipe. We have personally tested this recipe and it WORKS if you follow the directions. (http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs/356/1_Minute_Chocolate_Frosting59883.shtml)
*A tip from me could be that instead of using granulated sugar use confectioners sugar*

Melt the chocolate chips and mix it in. It will taste like chocolate. Also shave chocolate pieces onto the cake.

Here's a recipe for chocolate ganache (spelling?). It's very simple as long as you have 1/2 cup of heavy cream...
