Since many of us have engaged in very serious or silly or controversial banter on R&S, is it liberating to show your face or does it make you feel vulnerable? Do people look the way you thought they might given what they claim to be i.e. atheist, Catholic, Buddhist, Pagan, Muslim etc. or did you imagine something entirely different? Do you think biases about religion effect the way you think someone might look once you actually see the real human? Thank you and namaste!

Rammie: what are you talking about? You're beautiful. Really.

Riegan: lovely.
Barbara: my Mom ducks cameras and I wish I had a picture of her. Maybe someday:)

Never fear showing yourselves to me. I would really never hurt you. I mean that. I know how it can feel. I have been adamantly opposed to showing what you can make of my face for a long time. We are all beautiful and if what I have to say bothers someone then they never wanted to know me anyway. As far as danger goes, I'm trained in self-defense so I pity that person if that day ever came. Many blessings to all of you:)

tall: we've all had that happen:) No fear, my friend.

I put off showing my face for a long time, but now it's out there and Jack routinely butchers my gorgeous looks with his characatures of me.... (wonder woman, Miss Gorgeous...)

*sigh*

jk of course. I didn't show it mainly cause I only had hard copy of pictures and put off scanning them. There are only about 3 fairly good closeups of me anyway....

blessings :)

Well up until recently I felt as if I looked very agnostic.:) My eyes would not decided what to look at, at the same time. Meaning one would look this way and the other another way.
I was indeed very self conscious about it and it seemed to stand out even more in photos.
I had the surgery a few months back and I feel much better, yet I have not had any pictures made yet.
I saw the question about posting are real pics but I would rather not put up an old pic of me and I don't feel like brushing my hair to take a quick shot to post.
Also whether people post a real pic or a silly one does not matter to me when I read posts. Here I can be a silly corndog and I like that. Start posting real pics and it probably does get too serious.

OK, if you are up front from the beginning, then those who accept you, accept you. Those who do not, do not. You don't have to worry about what all your friends will think when they REALLY know who you are, and what you look like. I think created avatars are the worst thing ever. They are (mostly) all attractive and flawless. Not true of humans. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Now maybe there is an argument for being accepted for your personality and wit only, without being judged on looks. But, if you meet someone online, and plan to ever meet them face to face, would you not prefer they have known you from the beginning? I put my face on everything, and you can take it or leave it. Up front and honest = less stress.

I hate the way I look. I don't think i'm cute. But I dont think that my usual banter is in anyway compromised by people seeing my face, hehe.

But I am rather immodest. I never did claim to be a Molly Mormon. Cause I'm not. IF being a Molly means I have to give up tanktops, I'll slap that ho. lol.

I'm don't really worry about physically showing my face but if I think that anyone is noticing me at the moment I start wondering what they are thinking of me alot and its probably all in my head cause I have bad eyesight. Sometimes I'll think a mailbox is a teeniebopper who thinks I'm scary or afraid, but not cause of how I look, just cause of the horrible energy I put out whenever I'm around anyone.

I wrote a poem about it which is mostly quotes from a Van Damn movie called "In Hell" (the only movie he ever acted super amazingly awesome in!)

"Do You Even Know Who You Are?"

Probably Not!!!!!!
The mask we hide behind is bullshit. Sooner or later it shatters. That's when we find out who we really are.

The mask says, "I'm better than you," as I rot behind it.
Dear God unchain me from the pride...
I'M NOT AFRAID TO BE ME!
Dear God shatter this mask.
I'M NO BETTER THAN ANY OF YOU AND YOU'RE NO BETTER THAN ME!

You think you win. When you bend to play their game you are losing...

You are losing yourself.

I feel alright about it. The main reason I like to use the avatar is that most people don't guess whether I'm a man or a woman when I use it.

Nope, I do not feel vulnerable about showing my face, or sharing information.
What have I to fear from man? It is God alone that sees me as I truly am! From the inside...out!
And I KNOW He loves me!

I'm used to it.

At first, I was paranoid that I might be recognized by someone that I know, and sometimes I put sort of personal information on here. lol. I'm still sort of hoping that I won't ever have one of my husband's co-workers say to me, "Gee, I saw you on Yahoo Answers one day talking about your labor and childbirth ..."
lol.

Oh well, if they do, they do. That's why I'm careful not to give away TOO much information. ;-)

I don't feel vulnerable,( I probably should) I just like to have fun changing images.
I have encountered one person only who recently showed her true picture and amazingly she looks just as I had imagined.
She looks very bright and cheerful.
