Do you think it is a good idea to always be protected from criticism or honest character analysis?
Let me explain. A white person is naturally fearful to say anything evaluating about a minority yest he be, accused of being a racist. People are afraid to say anything to a veteran, they too maybe accused of being unpatriotic. This is also true for homosexuals as well.
Even though civil rights laws and political correctness was a necessary thing, hasn't it got a bit out of hand. How can you be sure how people view you, if they have to tiptoe around you all the time. I personally don't want people to be afraid to ask me a question. If I am doing something the wrong way or am being insensitive, I want people to tell me. I don't want them to not tell out of fear that I might think they are being racist or a bigot.
Should minorites and others be free from criticism? If so why? If not, then why not?

Not living under a rock. I am fully aware that some people do, but some people are still afraid to do so.
You will even see it here on Y!A. Some posters can't ask a question without putting in some useless disclaimer like: "I don't mean all blacks or whatever, but some of them" . Just ask the damn question, and stop being a wimp.

Yes, it is out of hand. I can no longer say that I disagree with homosexuality (for example...it was the first thing that came to mind!), because people will get offended that I don't support it and assume that it's because I am hateful, bigoted, brainwashed, holier-than-thou, etc. It is so stinking annoying to not be able to be honest with people. Nobody understands that you can disagree with an action and not hate the person who is doing the action.
I think freedom of speech is true freedom. I think that people shouldn't use it to say cruel things about others, but I see nothing wrong with using that freedom to politely state one's opinion or one's disagreement. I am tired of being forced to bow down to other people overly fragile emotions and keep my mouth shut because my views aren't all that PC. It seems like everyone is so wrapped up in their emotions that every little thing offends themand upsets them, and the notion that they could be wrong is enough to throw them for a loop! If people would just man up and learn how to handle disagreement (or even outright criticism when it comes) the world would be a better place.

I think it's just the politicians who are cautious about that for the obvious reason. Also, many employees are warned to be politically correct or get fired. And then there are the big companies who want the minorities money who do it, too. All that do it seem to have the wrong motives. Ordinary people still voice their opinions as much as ever, I sure do. And then you do have the real live racists who have never quit. The thing is you should treat anyone with the dignity they deserve and not blame them individually for something their particular race or culture is known for. I seldom criticize people for their faults (I have plenty of my own to correct) unless they are "in my face" or challenging me to. Direct criticism rarely changes a person, only makes them defensive unless it's asked for, and even then it can backfire. Haven't you ever watched American Idol in the audition stages?
Back to being politically correct.......you're right.....it has gone way past sanity.

No person should be free from criticism. However, you don't seem to be able to differentiate between a person and their subculture IE the so-called minority groups. Here in lies a problem, until we are able to look at a person and judge them solely as a person and not by there social or economic group we are not free from racism and bigotry. Thus, we do need to keep in place any slight protections these people may have. The only people who have nothing to fear in a racist classist society are the ones who can be held in common with the ruling group.

If, and that is a big IF, people would be more honest with themselves, constructive criticism could be very useful in helping them to see their "faults," becoming more responsible for their own thoughts, words and deeds, and to growth in maturity.
The way it is, most people do not want to hear anything negative about themselves. They want to feel they are right and just in everything they think and believe.
If I could wave a magic wand and make everyone see themselves honestly, perhaps that would make this world a better place.
For now, political correctness helps somewhat in keeping prejudices out of the public eye.

Blind religion is a credulousness, disposition to feel , it is whilst you recognize that you realize whatever it doesn't matter what different tells you and this isn't an emotion, however an over trustfulness acceptation and a wishful considering While religion is, actually, some thing that you just and I recreation day-to-day in our lives. And we have exercised it from the very second we have been born. I feel it is precise that your mom even motivated you to suppose that we would believe her once we lay in her fingers. And we discovered daily that was once precise, she might no longer drop us, that she was once safe, and we would placed our religion in her fingers, Have you ever viewed what religion is? Or what method we cross via to feel in some thing or any person? Are you mindful of religion or notion for your every day existence? Think a second approximately the following breath you are taking. Are you definite there is not some thing within the air you are taking into your lungs which would harm your wellbeing? Surely, if you happen to seem round your atmosphere, you are not able to constantly see or odor any gasoline or fumes that would damage you. Only if a brand new odor was once observed, might you might be be a bit of concerned. Would you ever remember this to be "a soar of religion"? Believe is whilst you recognize that jesus has placed religion for your middle that you could recognize Him and feel that he's the Son of God . Gods is aware of each factor and he knew from the very starting whom have been going to feel and whom were not. Faith is trusting accepting and believing God for who he say he's While give up is giving up each factor to God so he may have his manner on our existence , is whilst you be given this will likely in your existence that is his motive for us. Surrendering to the Lord is like breaking down again to the ft of the go telling the Lord that you just can not make it for your possess we'd like his Holy spirit to consultant, coach and to preserve us, it is to many temptation throughout us and if we don't stand and feel God we might cross ashtray that is what our enemy wishes , it is as much as us to alternative existence or demise, as for me and my family i will be able to compliment the Lord and alternative existence and lightweight. No I think this whole political correctness is designed to make us afraid to open our mouth about anything.
I have a friend who has been finding it difficult speaking to clients because he has a very strong hispanic accent. I felt he needed to work on his english. I think I circled the wagons 25 times before I told him the truth. He received my constructive criticism and is doing quite well now, but I felt like I was killing a sacred cow. I don't believe that is the way it should be.

No one should be free of criticism.
We can see where it has gotten this country. Our childrens papers no longer have red writing on them if there is a mistake, people come in to work late, and yet are next criticised about it, they slack off on their work, do innapproprate things, don't handle them selves probably in a professional mannor nor do they dress in a professional mannor and nothing is done.
We have become a country of wusses do to fear of someone calling us a name or us pissing somone off.
time to get over it and get back to the morals of this country and take back what is proper

Questions of character, if truly based on issues of character, cannot be interpreted as based on bigotry, patriotism or homophobia.
Unless of course one bases one's opinions on any of the above.
Also, one should not take criticism as a personal attack. The knack for that lies in one's approach. I could not have survived 15 yrs as a freelance photographer if I was unwilling to accept constructive criticism.

we are becoming inefficient in every aspect because we are afraid of offending people. nobody should be afraid to criticize or be free from criticism because there is something called the first amendment. if i want to say something i will say it. out of manners what you say should be in good taste (as in you shouldnt actually be racist or go off spouting racist comments) but no body should be free of it and no body should be afraid of it either.

Free and open debate is good. But there is an art to it and making broad, general statements about a particular group of people isn't good. Being honest, positive and working to create positive change are good things; if you're sincere about it, your words need to have integrity instead of hatred.
